A) Brock plus Melbourne's Pick 34 for Carlton's Pick 11 and Pick 27
or
b) Brock for Carlton's Pick 11 and a reasonable, average player ( ? )
or
c) Brock plus Melbourne's Pick 50 for Carlton's Pick 11 and Pick 43

Although it seems we got the lesser of the two deals the trade of Mclean=Pick 11 has already been agreed on. Would be very unlikely to change as both Carlton and Melbourne seem happy with the outcome.

I think its about right, don't forget we have already got 5-6 years out of Brock, Carlton aren't getting him at age 18. With his pace he probably only has 5 years left in the game.

IMO you guys win out of this trade. Last uncompromised draft 4 picks in the top 20 & when you honestly look at McLean he is getting slower by the year. Add an uncontracted player with the pre-season draft and it's all good for the Dees.

I am a big fan for McLean but I do have the belief that he doesnt fit into Baileys culture he is trying to create. The fact we can pick up Trengrove at pick 2 a ready made player it seems we wont lose out in that area (yet to be seen). You must not forget that both coaches at the Blues were at the Demons so they would have pi$$ed into his pocket to get him to come over. They are just looking at replacing Stevens as well.
Pick 2 and 18 for Tippet (yes just dreaming) but I hope its a win win for all... at the end of the day it is a business.

once his in a carlton jumper he'll lift, when he lines up next to judd, murph, gibbs and without a tag you watch him go and you all know, were not saying he'll be a match winner but his talent cannot be denied. Juddy has taught our young midfielder to be better players and he'll teach mclean too.

couldnt agree more. This is a magnificent deal for melbourne and gives them 4 picks in first 18 in the last uncompromised draft for several years. Their future is very bright and I can even see them going further with perhaps another first rounder for someone like Davey. I honestly cant fathom what carlton are doing here though. They've overpaid for McLean and have no 1st rounder in the last real draft and needed key position players more than another midfielder. A ballsy strategy in my opinion.
