Went along to Laithlain Park yesterday to watch the Demons versus the Garlic Munchers. Got to say it was a great experience, the oval and facilities are looking good, very good sized crowd and great atmosphere. Things are looking good at Demon land at last.

Chris Mayne stood out, he is genuinely AFL class and unfortunately should not ever play another WAFL game.

Troy Cook is a brillant leader, just a natural, and all the players now throw themselves at the ball. Believe me the cookie monster is worrying the daylights out of the opposition with his full frontal attacks.

Adam Campbell was impressive in parts but unusually his kicking let him down.

Hope he's back next week to stay. :thumbsu:

I thought he was shocking today.

Was given the sole task of shutting Griffen down and couldnt get near him.

He is obviously trying his guts out, but he's also just as obviously not up to AFL standard. Struggles to keep his feet and can't put up a contest in most cases. Be good if he was 18 or 19, but not when he's north of 30.

His biggest strength has always been his hardness at the contest. He's lost that so his time is up. There was a contest on the wing where the ball was kicked to him, and a Bulldogs player was coming for him. Instead of running hard at the ball, he stood still and watched the Bulldogs player just steal it out from in front of him. He also spends more time lying on the ground than standing up - I don't think I've ever seen a player fall over as much as McManus does. You've been a great servant of the FFC Macca, but please, for everyone's sake, give it away now.

Yep, Can't shut anyone decent down , time to give it away and let Foster or Dunn shine.

I'll eat my hat if Dunn ever makes it at AFL.

The guy should have a tank of an upper body, with all the leg injuries he's had. Says a lot for his work ethic...

Joking right?
God awful.
His first quarter contribution was to fall over and let Griffen run away from him into the forward line, give Griffen a free and should've given him another one, when he grabbed Griffen when Cooney actually had the ball...the sooner someone (anyone) gives him the pink slip the better...

I have no idea how we are getting better value from playing him than Foster or O'Brien...FFS, what's the criteria they've got to beat...only fall over once and let the player they're playing on only get mildly dozy from leather poisoning?

____ I nearly bit a hole in the chair in front...and I almost smacked the doodler behind me, who must be his uncle or something, making excuses...

Absolutely atrocious in the first half. Did one or two OK things in the third, but that was it. People say he sets a good example for his teammates, but he is getting selfish in his old age. There was one crucial passage in front of me in the last quarter which summed up his lack of contribution to a team effort. Ibbo was sort of open on the HBF, but the kick to him was a hospital kick. It was obvious as the ball was flying through the air that he needed to be Buddy Franklin to mark it. McManus peeled off to provide the cheap option 40m down the ground on the wing. His opponent went to the contest, creating a 1-on-2 which Ibbotson could not win. Turnover. McManus should have assessed the situation and helped his teammate out. He does this too often, running forward of the ball hoping to get a cheap kick (as its the only way he can get a kick). Its good to provide options, but not at the expense of playing roulette when your teammate is in a 50-50 contest and needs help.

Unfortunately have set my sights so low for McManus, that that is the best I can see him playing. Obviously not up to AFL standard.

Macca is a club legend and deserves to go out on his own terms. Hopefully Harvey will keep him up to date on how he thinks he is going so Macca knows when the time is right.

Never seen a man bleed purple as much as Macca!

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Macca is true Purple through and through. If Harvey does not last long as a coach with Freo would Macca be a good replacement? Just wondering.

Make him the skills coach.

Reverse psychology works wonders at our club...

For the love of god NO!!!

The bloke doesn't have a football brain and has been lucky to last this long in the AFL.

Surely you jest???????????????????????????????????

A coach as to be someone who is a thinker and judging from McManus' decision making during games he would be a shocking coach!

Cant have a midfield full of inexperienced midfielders

Plus im sure the main reason he is there is to show the young guys the type of heart/attitude needed every week.
If they can learn that from him it will be fantastic

I would rather a midfield full of inexperience than lack of pace and constant turnovers. They're not going to make the finals, so get rid of the old, what's the worse that can happen - we lose for the rest of the season, cos our midfield is too young, resulting in valuable experience for them...and Daniel Rich.
