Re: What players do you think we have to build our next generation of baby bombers around?

Never said Stanton was better than the Burgoynes.

Just want to prove to you that some of the these 'glamour' players have just as, if not worse, efficiency ratios than the man you love to pot for no other reason than his kicking style looks awkward - It certainly isn't based on facts.

You are saying he has an awkward kicking style. I mentioned that the stats would make a mockery of themselves if it "proved" that Stanton was better than the Burgoynes.

You still haven't shown me the stat of how many times Stanton gets cheap possessions and gives his cheap little handpasses that put his teammates under pressure which still count as effective disposals.

If you can find me that stat and point out that it makes little impact into the other statistics you provided me I may be swayed... otherwise... Stanton is crap.

Re: What players do you think we have to build our next generation of baby bombers around?

Please show the post where anyone has stated that the Burgoynes are better than Stanton.

Please show me the post where i'm rating Stanton based on his awkward kicking style.

If you are going to dish out bullshit expect it in return. You put words in my mouth and I'll put them in yours... how you going finding that stat... the important one that will undo all your hard work?

Well considering he kicks more often than he handballs compared to the rest of the team I would imagine it would be far less than everyone else.

Time for you to quit.

Stanton is second highest for contested possessions in our team.

Re: What players do you think we have to build our next generation of baby bombers around?

I think it's time I did a bit of work instead. :D

No worries.

How did Corey and Kerr get a game with the All Stars if their efficiency rating is less than 70%.
Incredible really.

Behind Donners other favourite whipping boy - Watson.

How did Stanton get picked in the Vic squad originaly if he's as rubbish as you say? At 22!

Incredible really. :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Re: What players do you think we have to build our next generation of baby bombers around?

I'm reading things that aren't there??? What about the people reading that Stanton is better than the Burgoynes!!!

To steal a quote from someone else on BF, that's as dumb as a ******ed baby goat!

No one said Stanton is better than the Burgoyne's.
Hence you reading things that aren't there.

Mind you, Stants is streets ahead of Peter at the same age.

Comporeale - Set plays from stoppages
O'Donnell - defense... never said backline!!!

Both coaches operate on all areas of the ground.

Camporeale isn't just set plays, but also zones, set ups and structures.

O'Donnell is defensive aspects. Tackling, spoiling, guarding.

How did Stanton get picked in the Vic squad originaly if he's as rubbish as you say? At 22!

Incredible really. :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

He's also currently an emergency (along with Lovett and a couple of others).

So you like to use stats when it supports your argument, but disagree with them when they don't?
think it's time you resumed that sabbatical you promised about a month ago.

Ok i will say it now than. The burgoynes are better than Stanton. Way better. :thumbsu::p

Re: What players do you think we have to build our next generation of baby bombers around?

Stanton is second highest for contested possessions in our team.

Stop comparing him to Essendon players... we are 13th on the ladder and everyone in the country knows that Essendon don't man up/aren't accountable, don't attack the ball and only run in 1 direction! Put the fact that Stanton is second highest at the club for contested possessions in perspective! It means FA!

How often do I use statistics Womb? They don't show the true picture that's why!

As for the sabbatical, I never promised anything and my fans wanted me... I guess some people enjoy someone who doesn't where blinkers and is prepared to cop a little flak for not towing the company line! I was back by popular demand! :D

You are on drugs if you are comparing Stanton with either of the Burgoynes at any time of their careers, Stanton is an absolute hack compared to the Burgoynes!

Secondly, I wonder if Stanton's emergency listing has anything to do with Sheedy being assistant coach?!?!

Remember when Kepler Bradley played for Australia against Ireland!!! :D:D:D

Has more contested possessions than Houli though.

Re: What players do you think we have to build our next generation of baby bombers around?

How often do I use statistics Womb?

13% of Bartel's disposals are contested, 3.7 contested disposals a game out of 27 disposals...

i know that is slightly taken out of context, and that the part before it was you paying out stats.. but it's still you using stats to prove your point. anyway, this isn't my argument, i'll sit back and enjoy from now on.

I don't know how much footy you watch (not much by the sounds of it) but S Burgoyne has been pretty ordinary for the most part of this year whilst P Burgoyne has been okay but nowhere near his best.

Do you think they're having good years ?
Why ?

Re: What players do you think we have to build our next generation of baby bombers around?

Has more contested possessions than Houli though.

Who cares. Put together a poll (I don't know how to) asking the Essendon board members which midfielder are they most interested in basing Essendon's success around, Houli or Stanton. I'm not sure what the result would be, I'm guessing Essendon board members would say Stanton but I wouldn't mind seeing the result anyhow.

The point is that you said "WHO CARES HOW MANY POSSESSIONS HE GETS! NONE ARE CONTESTED! WAAAAH!"

The point is they you keep talking shit but in reality you know ____ all. You get proved wrong in one point and you move on to another, you get proved wrong there and you move back to your first point as if it wasn't already proved wrong.

You're an idiot, plain and simple, and I'm done discussing things with you.

No to answer your question, the Burgoynes are definitely down on last season. No doubt. Yet statistically they are no far different, therein lies the hidden trap of following statistics.

I would've thought they're a bit down cos they've come off a loss of 119 points in a Grand Final. Pretty demoralising I would've thought. I think you could say the same about the Cornes brothers... in fact most of the PA players... until they played Essendon of course. :p

Re: What players do you think we have to build our next generation of baby bombers around?

"Stanton is better than Peter Burgoyne at the same age"

Take a look at yourself Longy!
Age 20 *1998 - averaged 11.4 possessions and 2 marks
Age 21 *1999 - averaged 21 possessions and 3.3 marks
Age 22 *2000 - averaged 16.5 possessions and 3.8 marks per game
Age 23 *2001 - averaged 18.1 possessins and 4.6 marks per game

You might want to apologise to Longy.

Peter Burgoyne didn't play consistent footy until he was 24.
He didn't establish himself in Port's side until he was Stant's age now.

Stant's has played 3 years of good footy before Peter played his first.

Shaun Burgoyne as a 20-21 year old, was running around getting the footy 12-13 times a game. Stanton has him covered comfortably.

Sheed's influence has worked really well for us.
We've got the second best ruck in the comp at the moment (on form) and he can't get a game. Sheeds is really looking after us.

Take a look at yourself Longy!

Comfortable with my position, you're pretty amusing though.

Sorry where is that post?

Where have I been proved wrong?

Hey, I'm getting just as frustrated as you because I can't change your mind either, let's not start getting personal.

How does that make him a better player?

James Hird only averaged 20.1 possessions over his career, Stanton's average is higher does that make him better?

I was talking about who was better.
