The amount of money spent on boring and stupid fireworks is insane.

I read Sydney spent 5.5 million on fireworks alone last year.

I'd much rather that money go to a worthy purpose, such as helping very sick children and families struggling to cope financially.

This is not a very merry or hopeful start to 2020 for very many Aussies. I have some understanding of what many are going through as indirectly impacted by black saturday however I cannot fathom how many are feeling right now. All I can wish for is for people to continue to support one another and stay safe!
