His injuries were impact injuries not soft tissue, so if his shoulder is structurally fine he'll be good to go.

I wish we'd kept him personally, but Suban had a damn contract

But he's having a plate out of his shoulder during pre season and has extensive rehab to go through, you don't think that could be concerning for his preparation into next year

Only reading the main board but it appears Geelong have pulled out, wonder why, don't tell me they don't need top quality players!
Because they can't afford him, due to their own salary cap problems. Much the same reason that Port will be going through 2017 with only 39 players on their senior list. Nothing to do with whether he's any good or not.

What are your thoughts on the plate removal pre season and extensive rehab at such an important time of the year?

I trust Adelaide's medical department to do their due diligence checks on him. If he passes their inspection, then I'll back their judgement. If he fails, then we don't sign him. It really is that simple.

The clubs medical staff can take an educated guess on the healing!

What about the lack of pre season?

Isn't it?! There isn't an area of the game that Lyons got better in this year as opposed to 2015. The only differences between his 2015 and 2016 form is the departure of Dangerfiled and no sub vest. Project Lyons' stats in 2015
to the same time on ground that he got in 2016 and you get almost identical production.
People are mistaking Lyons' lack of opportunities and competition from previous years for an improvement in 2016.
Strange that he is singled out for his over rated 2016 yet Brouch who had similar numbers is revered by those same critics.
Now he is the player deserving criticism for a lack of smarts and an underwhelming season.
Considering their respective drafting position I would say the guy we selected in the 60s out performed the no 2 in the mini draft.

I find this sort of post annoying and largely the reason that I never really became a Lyons fan. If you can't see the talent gap between Crouch and Lyons with your own eyes then there really is no hope for you. I honestly could not give a crap what your numbers tell you.

Crouch isn't being revered for his 2016 it was well below what we know he can produce!

Whats this gap tou talk about? Look at the stats for this year and tell me there is a gap. Perhaps you should pay more attention to the numbers. But you won't because they don't support your argument.

Im not a fan of Brouch (which is pretty obvious) I see his talent compared to Lyons and understand his ceiling is higher. But where Lyons made the most of what he has Crouch is the opposite. But some posters wont except Lyons for what he gave us. Value for money. Instead they blindly back a player who they hoped would be the next Dangerfield. Now that is a gap!

Do you actually watch football or just form your opinions by reading the paper on Mondays?

Maybe google Brad Crouch and discover why his form was patchy this year.

If you are trying to tell me it was due to injury then that argument went out the window when he chose to have a night out with the boys during pre season.
What does that tell you about his level of commitment during rehab?

We're going from bad to worse here.

Absolute garbage. Brad had an interrupted preseason again. If he can get through this year with a good preseason watch out! Nothing to do with work ethic !

Ok. I hope your right about Brad Crouch. Personally i don't see what you see in him. But to be the next Dangerfield he will have to knuckle down over the pre season. And that means no benders or anything that might affect his form or that would give his critics ammunition. Just quietly......Dangerfield is a champion player who is also the ultimate professional. Brouch is niether at the moment.

Is your position, that to be a better footballer than Lyons he has to be as good as Dangerfield?

Interesting stance you have taken here marty on a player that will cost us bugger all in terms of pick but you were critical and continued to be on why we didn't take an 18 year old with a smashed knee that hadn't played for, what 18 months, with one of our first round picks last year.

I think a lot of the rusted on Lyons detractors feel the same way as you. I think it's mis-directed though. Lyons was never really talked up much at all. What did happen was that he was constantly referenced because he wasn't getting a game despite excellent SANFL form while players were either playing injured or hopelessly out of form in the seniors. He would come in as sub and pick up 10 in a quarter which only fuelled the same questions. Which led to his detractors to manufacturing weaknesses like tank, too slow etc. Most of his 'fans' at the end of 2015 would readily admit that their greatest annoyance is that they still didn't know if he was an AFL quality player.

Out come all the Brouch excuses. Exactly to do with work ethic. That was the issue with his suspension. Drinking while in rehab.
Talking to a physio mate one day he suggested to me that a lot of guys who struggle with injury don't work hard enough in rehab for such injuries.

Rehab is quite often the hardest form of training as quite often they are alone and you have to work harder.

He want cost us anything in trading for a reason, freo didn't see him capable if being on their list so they delisted him, however if he requests a three year contract with reasonable coin then it will cost us maybe in the future on other players

But I have just read how posters were talking about crouch and his interrupted pre season which affected his season. Barlow at 29 next year is having a plate out of his shoulder during pre season and will need to go through extensive rehab. Wow it makes crouches pre season look like a dream. How do you think this injury and lack of pre season will affect his season? After all crouches all most destroyed his year.

Do you think an interrupted pre season will affect Barlw after all he is having a plate removed from his shoulder in the middle of it

Is that for real? He's going to have an injury interrupted preseason? How bad? The hits just keep on coming!
