My gut feeling last year was that if Paul Roos was to come back & coach another team, it would be the Brisbane Lions.
Purely because I think he has some unfinished business with the old Fitzroy supporters.
I honestly believe that Roos will now coach them & very much like the Swans, tap into the old Fitzroy supporter base, many of whom loved him back then & have admired him as Swans coach.

He is the one person that will bring back the many disgruntled Fitzroy supporters by embracing their heritage properly. I'm sure he would push this hard.

Roosy is the man. He has to be!

I can only assume someone else is already a done deal, Roos maybe. Shame, Voss is a legend of the club even including Fitzroy's long history.

Why not wait until the end of the season though?

Because they dont want to make the mistakes Carlton made by letting Malthouse arrive too late to manage the lsit because he had a book tour.

Clearly Roos wants a say in the makeup of the 2014 list. And quite clearly, it is Roos.

Sack Voss on September 1, after the season is over for them. Unless Roos or whoever else is coming in suddenly plans a book tour in the next three weeks, it doesn't give the incoming coach any less time to make changes to the list. It's just unsettling for all involved doing things this way.

He's coached him to like one season of finals over his five years at the helm. Only a matter of time, can't keep plodding along as a good bottom eight side.

You do understand that he's totally regenerated their list in the time he's been there, right?

I wonder if he actually knew last weekend?

Several times when the cameras were trained on him during last weekend's game he had a sort of wry smile on his face when the Lions were making mistakes

what a joke of a decision the guy is a legend of the game and didn't deserve to be treated with contempt he turned there season around they played for him now when it looks like he could be on the cusp of a reward he gets shafted, they obviously had this planned for a fair while why give him hope? joke of a desicion

This is totally out of the blue. Voss finally had them playing some decent football, and then they go sack him. At least give him another year to see if the improvement continues. I smell a rat.

how can anyone feel sorry for bloke who king hit some poor bloke outside a club?
Have no respect for voss- egoist of the highest order.
Funny how in playing days i would've said Hird best bloke, followed by Voss and Buckley a distant last.
As coaches and human beings it definitely would be inverted now.
au revoir crazy vossy!

Any chance they wanted roos, figured hird will struggle to be coach of Essendon next year and just bit the bullet to lock in roos before essendon potentially could come calling. Brisbane/Ess can both offer better lists, better money, better support than Melbourne.

Seems a harsh decision on the Lions behalf, does it also signal the end for Brown.
