- are jealous!
Not sure what you mean by 2 years ahead of time. At the time the decision was taken, many saw it, and most clubs would have seen it as several years behind time given the lack of success to that time. The 2 years that were given to Mick were in deference to his loyalty and his effort and as a way to ease Bucks into the job. There was no 2 years ahead of time about it. Time will never tell if the succession plan was a good idea because with the exception of its first 2 years which netted a premiership, it doesn't exist. In that regard it would be hard to give it anything but a resounding tick. Mick put paid to the succession plan by walking out, blaming the players for his failure and breaking his contract. The fact that he is at another club is not Collingwood's fault, it's is fairly and squarely Mick's and it was entirely his decision to leave. You have to love revisionism!"Well it seemed like a good idea at the time" isn't a defense, go ahead and make some decisions 2 years ahead of time and see how many turn out to be bad ones in hindsight. It's a good argument about why you shouldn't make decisions 2 years ahead of time, but not much else. Time will tell if the succession plan was a good idea or not, if Mick wins a flag at the Blues then there will be plenty of people tearing strips off the club no matter how many people thought it was a great idea at the time, don't worry about that. The fact is the reason Mick didn't end his coaching career at Collingwood was the clubs choice, not his. It's completely unfair to be attacking him for writing about the club in his biography when it was a huge part of his life, and the fact that he's at another club isn't even his fault, it's OURS.
