I certainly don't, but that makes it even more unlikley. I don't think there's a hope in hell that we'd ask them sit out the end of the year in the final year of their contract where they're going to want to try to attract interest - in order for us to keep open pick 24 in the MSD - just in case we might want to use it. It's just not going to happen unless they re-injure themselves before the MSD and are genuinely out for the year. If we ask anyone, itd be Harrison, as he's contracted for next year and isn't going to play seniors. But even then the AFL have to approve it.

Our second selection wouldn't be pick 24 just as our first isn't 18 because we're currently sitting top of the ladder.

Some clubs wont have a single opening let alone 2.

Given the severity of the Johnson leg injury it wouldn't surprise if he doesn't return this season and if he does I can't see him making much of an impression. He's a confidence player as it is.

If there was any interest at the end of last season for Macrae he'd be playing elsewhere already in 2025 IMO. There will be even less now and none that would require a trade.

DFA at best for both.

At the end of the day we'll likely just take the one selection anyway.

It's not just about us - it's about them as well. Why would they agree to it (which they have to do for it to occur) when they'll be out of contract and their season won't be done at the time of the MSD. DFA at best is only if they have they have a strong finish to the season - otherwise it's no chance. Any manager that didn't tell the Pies to **** off if we asked, shouldn't have a job.

And Macrae's manager is Paul Connors, who manages the daicos boys and others. Not a management company you want to piss off.

What happened to Charlie Dennis? Did he end up getting drafted?
*clancy.

Back playing for Claremont.
No he didn't get drafted. A real surprise. The only U18 All Australian not on a list.

Speaking of Charlie's that McCartin boy would be a nice compromise between an aging Tomlinson and an 18 year old kid. And plays a position we could use some real depth in, thank god for Frampton because Dean looks a bust.

I reckon it depends on where we see Dean. If they don't see a future beyond this year they might go for McCartin. Those brothers are all naturally good footballers. He's been in great form in the VFL

Tomlinson numbers are good at VFL level this year….

Had 27 disposals last week for north in VFL

Averaging 24 and 8 marks

has the size and the experience for a team going all out for another flag

Just wonder if he’s still quick and agile enough at senior level

I see no problem otherwise bringing him in for 6 month contract

I lean towards Tomlinson cause I’m still haunted by lacking enough 190cm defenders in 2018 after dunn went down 😞

I agree with your original premise: McCrae and Johnson are playing state leagues next year. They’re place holders now.
If either genuinely lost heart and retired, perhaps a chance for Johnno, it would be a bonus.
But we won’t push either. That’s the kind of culture killer move I just can’t imagine being done under Fly.

Agree - I'd bring in two of them if we could - Tomlinson and McCartin.

He got injuries right before the MSD both previous years when he was right in the mix.
I watched the state game and he was OK without being great. I remember him being injured before the draft. It'll be interesting to see if he gets picked up this year

So, what do we do for the next 4 hours?. Anybody written any poems they'd like to share?. A favourite Netflix series perhaps. I'm climbing the walls here

For Manic, the Magpie’s Roar

In black and white, he walks with pride,
Through storms and sun, he's by their side.
A heart that beats with every play,
Manic rides each game day’s sway.

From Victoria Park to the G,
He chants with fierce intensity.
A true believer, loud and strong,
Win or lose, he sings their song.

The Collingwood crest upon his chest,
He backs his boys, he gives his best.
With every mark and every goal,
The Pies ignite his burning soul.

He rides the highs, survives the lows,
In finals fire or season snows.
For every clash, he brings the heat—
A passion none could dare defeat.

So raise your scarf, let’s toast aloud,
To Manic, loyal, bold and proud.
Through thick and thin, he’ll never stray—
A Magpie 'til his dying day.

Ai 🙏
