Last one I promise.
Kirby

Kirby, Kebabs in Bed

He crept in late, with stealth and flair,
A takeaway scent perfumed the air.
Wrapped in foil, still piping hot—
A midnight feast his stomach sought.

He fluffed the pillows, dimmed the light,
Unwrapped the lamb with pure delight.
Tzatziki dripped like candle wax,
While chili sauce launched sneak attacks.

He groaned with joy, each spicy bite
A dreamy, greasy kind of night.
But then—a growl not from his plate,
His wife stood there, eyes full of hate.

“The sheets!” she cried. “The smell! The mess!”
“Is this some act of war, no less?”
With garlic breath, he tried to plead,
“It's just a snack… a primal need!”

She seized the naan and flung it far,
It landed in his old guitar.
A skewer flew, the hummus spilled,
Their bedtime peace forever killed.

He sleeps now on the couch instead,
Dreaming of kebabs in bed.
And though he longs for one more taste,
He fears again his wife's distaste.
You've made me crave a lamb wrap from Zeus. So good made with pita. The chicken hades is great too.

Wish I lived closer.

I would just take Glover. I reckon he could play almost straight away. Great defender and a not too shabby ruck/Forward when required
coverage mentioned he'd still have 3-4 good years left too.

We've been watching this guy do it every week for years now. He could play a serious role for us this year.
Should have got him on the list two years ago. Even 12 months ago during SSP

I think we need 2 (if we get 2 spots).

Any two of Kreugs, McCartin, Glover, Tomlinson.

The things with Kreuger is that he could have been the Reef replacement as well as the McStay replacement.

Glover deserves a chance ahead of recycled others from other clubs. He's well respected and has really found his niche as a defender and leader onfield. He could play straight away if needed and he's a safe, reliable commodity.
The fact he's a beautiful left footed kick is just a bonus that we could use out of defence.

I'm sick of seeing him at the top of the page rated above all our listed players every game so why not!

Krueger is an athlete, unfortunately not a very good footballer. He has fry pans for hands

Given we are a good chance for top 4, it would make sense to use the MSD to address the current lack of depth in tall defenders ie be short term in our thinking
I agree with this, I'd be happy if we decided to give Glover a 6 month contract because he knows our structures. Same with Kreuger if he keeps up his form and stays injury free, because of him knowing our structures and making it easier to make an impact of required.

I'm with you, but might depend on whether they think they can get a recruit up to speed and executing a role in our defensive system before the end of the season.

I think he's just too old - He's 29 in December, so you don't get a significant opportunity to benefit from him. Unless they were really looking at it like he's a 6 month injury replacement for Reef and then he moves on, I'm not sure I see it. And even then, he's not really a fit for the role they wanted Reef to play as that stay at home, shut down defender.

Charlie McCartin is 2 years younger, for comparison, and the upside is probably slightly higher due to lack of exposure at the top level and the family pedigree.

Someone like Will Hoare, who I remember hearing loosely mentioned in relation to us around draft time last year, is 197cm and only 24.

Then there's Fraser Rosman (23yo) who's been playing well for Port Melbourne in the VFL and being coached by Brendan McCartney, who was working at Collingwood last year and would obviously give us the scoop.

I just don't think it's as obvious as picking up our 28 year old VFL captain who's been observed for YEARS by us and not ever previously deemed to be at the level.

Depending on his theoretical role, he could just punch the ball, negating his trampoline hands.

I liked the guy but still not keen on getting him back.
He could, but I think defenders and particularly tall defenders need to have a good intercept mark. Krueger sought to mark everything on his chest.

This coupled with his inability to stay fit suggests he isn’t a good pick up.

I thought this too, but Murphy had these exact same knocks on him as well.

I think a 6 monther is ideal. List spots are going to be tight again at the end of the year. I don't think from this draft, we should be using a list spot to lock someone in for next year - unless we genuinely think they'll be a better bet than what is available at the end of the year - seems unlikely to me as we'll be picking late and the player we pick is likely to be available at the end of the year anyway.

I think they’ll go best available and won’t be fussed if it’s 6 or 18 months with the focus being longer term potential. Lots of kids got overlooked in the draft last year and a few of them would have been on our radar.
