His weaknesses are poor inside midfield skills, getting flustered under pressure, and variable decision making, and a non-existent defensive game.

I hate to say this because I hate both clubs. But Carlton deifinetly have a better midfield than the Tiges.![]()

for 2009:
1-judd
2-deledio
3-gibbs
4-murphy
5-foley
6-stevens
7-walker
8-carrazzo
9-tuck
10-newman
11-simpson
12-scotland
13-johnson
14-houlihan
15-mcmahon
16-grigg
17-tambling
18-cotchin
19-hadley
20-coughlan
21-polo
22-white
23-browne
24-bentick
25-bannister
26-connors
27-jackson
surely that indicates carlton clearly have the better midfield. and if you think i'm biased, well i'm happy to admit richmond have the better rucks and forwards and are on a par for defenders in 2009.
Never said Deledio isn't a good player. Clearly he is. The point I'm making is many of his "midfielder skills" are no where near elite status, and probably never will be. Instead of looking up pointless possession stats, watch the guy play. In particular watch Gibbs compared to Deledio in a pressure pack situation. Gibbs has poise, awareness, and reads the play much much faster, and gains possession and executes the perfect decision in a heartbeat. This is instinctual, raw talent. Deledio doesn't have that ability - he's just one of the crowd hoping to gain possession from a mistake. Deledio's strengths, are his endurance, and running ability when given a lot of space. His weaknesses are poor inside midfield skills, getting flustered under pressure, and variable decision making, and a non-existent defensive game. Deledio should be a valuable player for the Tiges so long as Terry plays him roles that are better suited to his strengths. A pure midfielder he is not.![]()
after judd there really isnt any quality at carlton, gibbs is a tagger and murph doesnt damage teams due to terrible kicking same goes for carrazzo and stevens is just an outside player that only plays well when the team has already won. After Cotchin's it's a pretty empty midfield talent cupboard at Tigerland I'm afraid. Foley tries hard. Deledio is more of an outside type/flanker. Who else? Johnson? King? lol.![]()

The Blues top-5, are easily better than the Tiges best. So it's not even remotely close. Just watch the last 1/4 Blues V Tiges, and watch how the Blues midfield (and without Judd) systematically dismantled the Tiges "midfield". It was an embarrassment. Foley was benched after Stevens gave him the biggest shellacking of his career.

Have Carlton's chances this year been deliberately downplayed by Pagan? On paper, their midfield looks pretty impressive. They have obvious deficiencies in other areas (i.e ruck and defence), but i'm finding it hard to find a midfield that is clearly better. I think West Coast were caught out today. They still have Waite and Kouta to return!
Midfield at the time: sporn,bannister

Deledio won the Army Award tonight for the most courages act on the field for 2008, what awards has Gibbs won?Never said Deledio isn't a good player. Clearly he is.
