Carlton's top 6 are better.

Richmond's depth is better.

Therefore, Carlton comfortably at the moment - their future potential ruck stocks contribute heavily.

parrot needs someone to help him wrench his head out of his own arse - he's quite stubborn for a bloke that flexible. ;)

His weaknesses are poor inside midfield skills, getting flustered under pressure, and variable decision making, and a non-existent defensive game.

Dunno about non-existent defensive game. You must'nt have seen the 30m chase down and tackle against Melbourne.

surely that indicates carlton clearly have the better midfield. and if you think i'm biased, well i'm happy to admit richmond have the better rucks and forwards and are on a par for defenders in 2009.

that is the worst and most bias list and not true one bit bar for judd number 1.
After one game cotchin was already better than houlihan. At the start of next year we will see him right up there only behind judd, lidz, murph, foley and gibbs.

Never said Deledio isn't a good player. Clearly he is. The point I'm making is many of his "midfielder skills" are no where near elite status, and probably never will be. Instead of looking up pointless possession stats, watch the guy play. In particular watch Gibbs compared to Deledio in a pressure pack situation. Gibbs has poise, awareness, and reads the play much much faster, and gains possession and executes the perfect decision in a heartbeat. This is instinctual, raw talent. Deledio doesn't have that ability - he's just one of the crowd hoping to gain possession from a mistake. Deledio's strengths, are his endurance, and running ability when given a lot of space. His weaknesses are poor inside midfield skills, getting flustered under pressure, and variable decision making, and a non-existent defensive game. Deledio should be a valuable player for the Tiges so long as Terry plays him roles that are better suited to his strengths. A pure midfielder he is not. :)

Go out and get a root you stupid cow

After Cotchin's it's a pretty empty midfield talent cupboard at Tigerland I'm afraid. Foley tries hard. Deledio is more of an outside type/flanker. Who else? Johnson? King? lol. :)
after judd there really isnt any quality at carlton, gibbs is a tagger and murph doesnt damage teams due to terrible kicking same goes for carrazzo and stevens is just an outside player that only plays well when the team has already won.

sounds silly does it parrot, know you know what everybody els thinks reading rubbish.:)

Judd tips it to Carlton. On potential though the Tigers could pip Carlton. Cotch with a preseason or two has great potential. Couglan back, fit and in form adds a lot.

But with Judd Carlton just. Newman and Walker are half back flankers so you can take them out of the equation.

The Blues top-5, are easily better than the Tiges best. So it's not even remotely close. Just watch the last 1/4 Blues V Tiges, and watch how the Blues midfield (and without Judd) systematically dismantled the Tiges "midfield". It was an embarrassment. Foley was benched after Stevens gave him the biggest shellacking of his career.

Is the 2008 Blues midfield better than this one though parrot?

They have obvious deficiencies in other areas (i.e ruck and defence), but i'm finding it hard to find a midfield that is clearly better. I think West Coast were caught out today. They still have Waite and Kouta to return!

Midfield at the time: sporn:o,bannister:o,camporeale:o,johnson:o,stevens:o,kouta

Grigg above Cotchin?

Judd, Stevens, Gibbs, Murphy, Walker, Grigg, Scotland, Carrazo, Simpson.
Richmond cant touch that top 9.
Then add Kreuzer.

Carl v Rich is not a great comparison.

Carl v Geel or Rich v Melb would be better.

Parrot what is it with you always bagging Richmond.Do you forget how our midfield dominated you in rd 1 ? What a poor assessment of the qusetion based on 1 game ! I think both are pretty even but i just dont get your constant putting down of the Tigers.Anyone would have thought you actually finished above us.:o

MIDFIELD STOCKS FOR 09- Depth included

Carlton: Judd, Stevens, Murphy, Gibbs, Scotland, Simpson, Walker, Carrrazzo, Browne, Bannister, Bentick, Hadley, Grigg, Houlihan

We all know who has the better midfield - why start a poll when you know what the answer is going to be?

Deledio won the Army Award tonight for the most courages act on the field for 2008, what awards has Gibbs won?

The fall on your arse trying to kick a goal award, or the 'WATCH OUT, IT'S MILNEY" award?

Yep, he's a star!:rolleyes::)

Carlton may have the best midfielder in Judd, however the Tigers have the better midfield overall - which is what this thread is about.

If Carlton's midfield was in actual fact better, they would surely have finished higher on the ladder, particularly with Fev having a stellar season. But that's not the case.

Depth beats individual talent anytime.

....f Carlton's midfield was in actual fact better, ....

That's why we thumped you in your "happy birthday" game. You can watch the Blues V Tiges midfield efforts here if you dare. lol. Without Judd. The Tiges midfield is not even remotely close to the quality the Blues have. We all know that, and if you watch that game you'll see why. :)
