Really poor form in this world cup. His average would have gone way done but it proves his human. Should we rest him for Hodge who is in form? I just think his starting to tire from all the cricket his been playing (Ashes, CB, C-H and now the world cup.)

Scores this World Cup;

Vs Scotland 4 runs
Vs Netherlands 2 runs
Vs South Africa 5 runs

It was bound to happen eventually that he'd slump a bit - he'd been flying for so long.

But you can't read into last night, coming in to tonk it in the 48th over.

He's a world beater, they won't give up on him.

In all of these matches, Huss hasnt had an opportunity to build an innnings, he had to make quick runs, one he gets the chance to build an innnings he will make a big score.

He has been in great form for so long a 'slump' is bound to happen.

However, he makes runs when it matters. These Group matches are not the important ones - the Super 8 onwards is the issue.

He is probably suffering because his teammates are making runs in the top of the order.

Either way, the team is winning so does it really matter?

slump? he generally comes in with 30 or 40 balls tops left and goes the tonk from ball 1.

perhaps he should play for his average, cough cough bevan.

just like Gilly, does the team thing instead of playing for his average.

lies damn lies and statistics.

Did you even watch the match latst night he looked reasonable

He came in with 12 or so balls left went the tonk and got out caught on the boundry of a fairly decent shot you can't complain about that

Umm, all these excuses, people seem to forget thats how he got his average so high coming in late and getting those 20-40*, earlier this year he was not out in half his innings

He is terribly out of form, despite a century he is averaging low 20's in his last 11 matches

When he came in at no 4 in NZ he scored 105 off 84 balls.I don't think he has slumped at all.He just has too much talent before him.How many balls has he faced in this world cup?

he faced a handfull of balls and found the middle of the bat from ball one. hardly out of form, your stats that you love so much dont tell the full story.

I'm not suggesting we drop him (he's still got a few credits in the bank as far as I'm concerned).

But if you're batting 6-7 in ODIs you job is to come in and score at a run a ball or better from the moment you arrive at the crease. That's their job.

If you want the luxury to build an innings you need to be batting 1-4/5

I hope the team does the sensible thing and opens with him against Ireland. The guy needs time at the crease. Time to let him just play his natural game and get some confidence up.

I hate BF. "He's played 3 bad games drop him" "Hayden is the best player ever" It infuriates me, one good/bad performance does not make a plaer good/bad

Go away, you two. :thumbsd:

I agree. :thumbsu:

Hussey is the man.

Pretty sure we'll see his mettle should the top order collapse.

up until recently punter and hussey have been carrying the line up.

with hodge, pup, gilly and haydo's running into form, hussey doesn't come in at the 20th over these past few weeks.

Why are you so obsessed with Aussie batting averages?

Maybe he should come out, get his eye in, and make an unbeaten 7 off 20 balls.

Hussey is a team player, like the rest of the boys, and what a super team it is.

He hasn't needed to make any runs so far this world cup.

if he comes in before 30 overs (hahaha not likely! :D ) he'll make a ton.

David Hussey had a better year but we all know why he will never get a go in the Aussie team-those 3 letters that strike fear in northerners-VIC:p

maybe if your team performed when it counted, more of your players would get national attention- winning the Mickey Mouse Cup does not rate high on selectors' charts....

By the way, if you're slamming Mike, he DID average ONLY 91 in the Ashes..... and in the one dayers, an average of 38- after his blistering form in 2006, he was due for a bit of a comedown on the one day stage....
