I'm an idiot, my first thought with Brendan was to assume they'd just cut off an arm or something. I figured Richie wanted it to be slow and painful for them, I didn't think they'd go right to killing him.

Kat is interesting but I'm also not sure she's needed (unless you're Seraphina of course).

Also don't get why Richie wouldn't tell Conrad that Maeve is the rat. Would eat them all up internally and essentially cause the empire to crumble from within.
Because of reasons

The plot contrivances are not worth delving into because the whole thing just comes apart at the seams upon any close inspection. It's pure escapism.

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying it but the quality has dropped off after the first 2 episodes where Guy Ritchie was heavily involved. It's still good fun though.

* Note though - imho nearly every scene where Conrad and Mauve are together in are excruciatingly bad. They are horrendously written and not for a second can you ever possibly believe that they are a couple. I'm letting that go as best as I can.

That whole storyline doesn't make sense. Maeve wants to get rid of Seraphina but her scheme puts her first born son Brendan in grave danger. Why would she do that? Then surely Richie would mention it to Conrad that Maeve wanted Seraphina killed? The Conrad and Maeve stuff is badly written and I think the actors are struggling with it.

Jan and the undercover cop is not particularly convincing either. But maybe that's the end of it after Paul's little chat. She blurted that Harry was in Antwerp. There would be a few dead bodies to be found there.

I genuinely thought Maeve didn't care if Brendan died (due to being the screw up). I thought it was deliberate she was setting him up as the sacrificial lamb (calling Richie, making the big song and dance about not touching a hair on his head etc).

Jan's not real bright, is she.

I suppose with Jan the audience has the advantage of knowing more than her. And she's a wife/mum not a streetwise criminal.

When Maeve warns Richie not to touch a hair on Brendan's head she's clearly angry, and frustrated when he hangs up on her. The whole scheme was stupid move by her and it has backfired badly. I find Conrad and Maeve both being so thick quite implausible. Would they really rise to control such a powerful criminal organisation? In every scene they are the dumbest people in the room (except Eddie).

Yes, you just have to ignore how stupid that couple is.

Yeah these two in a show that is a fair stretch anyway just doesn't make a bit of sense. Absolutely Richie would have thrown her under the bus. He's willing to chainsaw the kids but not dish Conrad another blow of pointing out it was because of his wife?

Then Jan. For all of Harry's skills we're really expecting someone like that would have such a liability of a wife? Then they have her followed to the pub but don't follow the person she meets?

Explosive episode

I liked how Harry and Eddie acknowledge the king is dead and are moving in the background

But what was the motive and reaction for throwing that guy off the balcony?

The coppers getting done was a complete surprise

Hopefully these two favours don't fizzle out at the point of resolve

Good episode that one.

Harry's chat with Eddie.

Harry knows Maeve is running the show but did he just tell that to the guy so he went along with the deal? I think he threw him off the roof because he got the information he needed then he was a potential liability.

Great scene between Richie and the coppers. Tattersall played by Toby Jones is a good new character. I reckon his plan for Alice is that it's a ruse for the TPG (Tactical Patrol Group) to storm the Harrigan house.

I'm assuming Kevin's 'other brother' is Eddie because Conrad is his real father.

I picked Conrad as Eddie’s real father in post #22 on page 1 of this thread btw.

There’s too many story threads that are just plot devices for my liking.

I assume at this stage that Harry threw the guy off the roof because he knows who the rat is and Harry couldn’t let him have that leverage. There’s also a fair chance that the rat is Kevin (or his wife that Harry seems strangely close to).

Me watching the last scene

shocked mr bean GIF

It seems likely but that would mean Maeve isn't blood related to Eddie. So why is she promoting him so much over her kin?
I suppose she sees him as a younger version of Conrad i.e. psychopath?

Couldn't watch it last night as Paramount have uploaded the episode with audio narration (didn't even know this was a thing before last night) and it couldn't be turned off.

Gave it 3 scenes to see if I could ignore it but it was so jarring I was losing the story.

especially since she absolutely loathes Seraphina who is a product of Conrad sleeping around

I hated that, turned it off.
Worked normally this morning.

Brutal ending.

Freddi had to go, as Harry got the info on the Harrigan mole.

Couldn't find how to do that on either the phone or TV app. Hopefully it's good to go tonight.

Just caught it.

Who was Kevin looking for in the book at the retirement home?
The screw that used to rape them in jail I assume, the one Harry reminded him of
