To those saying Mora will return in Rnd 1 is extremely hopeful. This is a team who made GF. Mora will be in the WAFL min 6 rounds before even considered, 15 months is a massive amount of time out of the game. Great preseason and 3 consecutive 25+ possession games at WAFL will get him close but even Viv struggled to get in on that. He is head to head with Sheriden, Crozier, Sylvia and Deboer for a Mid/HF role, not gonna be easy for him.

Let's not forget that when Mora gets back into our best 22 he has absolutely no need for 20 odd possessions in order to transform a game.

To me, Mora in good form, will be the cream on the cake for Freo.

At first, all I want is to see Mora back playing senior footy for Peel. Build up his form, and when he is busting with top form, find an opening in the Feo team. I don't expect to see him playing senior footy at Freo before Round 10.

Gently gently as it goes.

Agree with this, would like to see him back around halfway through the season. I think some are being too optimistic suggesting a rnd 1 berth, equally those suggesting he'll play out the whole season in the WAFL are being either pessimistic or unrealistic.

buddies aren't meant to be realistic :)

Playing round one? Jesus christ. You lot are pretty optimistic.

He'll be lucky to get one game, and it'll be a dead rubber like the Saints one this year.

I'd be surprised if he plays too many more games in his career, in all honesty. Just so long out of the game. I'd love to be proved wrong, of course, but I just don't think his body is up to it and if it is, he'll be behind some guys.

Robert Griffin III - Washington Redskins' quarterback. Did his knee late last season (exacerbated by the coach sending him back out there after he'd done it!)

Bit like the way Freo treated Viv Michie when he complained of a sore foot?

Image a midfield with mundy 191cm, Barlow 189, Crowley 190, fyfe 190, morabito 191.

imagine a midfield in 2/3 years, with Marsh/Acres ~190, and all those mentioned. :)
Not to say we're to tall, L. Neale + M. Walters in there as well. Is sylvia big?

Agree he'll almost have to rewrite history to go on to have a long, successful career. If he's not right to go round 1 then he has very little chance of coming back.

I wouldn't go that far. But I will be extremely surprised if he ends up playing another 50 games.

The way I see it if he has setbacks in the preseason and can't push for a game from round 1 they won't play him much like Michie this year.

And after 3 recons as the season wears on I'm sceptical his body will hold up, much like Michie or most players coming back from recons.

So for me if he isn't fit round 1 it's unlikely he'll come back to the seniors. Hopefully I'm proven wrong.

If our stars really are aligning, Mora's bionic knees will be invincible. Then, after a 2014 season of consolidation, he'll be ripe to replace the Pav until Cameron McCarthy comes of age.

Gumbleton's - the optimistic's proof that Freo's Big Man curse is over...

Mora probably won't be back till round 18, 19 or 20. That's a best case scenario. I would think that this year he will train, get his fitness back and get confidence in his knee. I hope he plays a heap of WAFL games and tears them apart. Mora has nothing but time to come back to the AFL. He is an A grade talent and will not be
rushed.

Agreed, in part. I think if everything goes right it won't be as late as round 19. I'd suggest he'd be likely to play 8-10 rounds for Peel. Other factors would obviously be his form, then the form of the team, injuries to other players and how RTB decides to structure up with the new interchange cap.

Mora just spent a whole season running the boundary on his own getting his fitness and confidence back
To do that again would be soul destroying
Hopefully its a full pre for Mora with a run in the Nab, a couple of early WAFL games and then the firsts
It will be play or bust for him ,not another season of suck it and see

If he's playing round 1 then his pre season and Nab form will have to be elite. He's effectively missed 3 years of footy. You can be as fit as you like, but he's going to need to get his touch and form back. Most likely he'll play at least a few rounds in the WAFL first. If he gets a guernsey in round one, I'll take my hat off to the guy. However, I don't think that's a likely scenario. The team is the strongest it's ever been. If his form doesn't warrant it, he's not playing. There are so many players fighting for that wing/HF spot that nobody is a guaranteed walk up start.

You obviously missed the part in my post re playing the early games in the WAFL:rolleyes:

Salim is right, and I say that because we both watched him train all year without being risked when he was clearly ready to play at least half a game of WAFL half-way through the season.

Mora wanted to play and was so frustrated that he even commented to us that he would love to be able to help the Peel ressies field a side when Brad Bootsma was forced to play.

With the team going so well without him it was decided to not risk him in 2013 and allow him to start a full pre-season on day one with the others instead.

To me Mora is being groomed as a replacement for David Mundy when he retires, hence the caution with bringing him back into the side.

Supper excited if this is the case

Mora was listed as a 2 week proposition from about round 10 onwards last season. I really don't get where these guys are saying he won't make it back until round 18-20 are coming from. Sure, if he gets re-injured and misses pre-season that will be case, but if he stays injury free I expect to see him back in the first month or two.
