This is the match-up i want to see for a good part of the match (with Moran given the odd stint up forward if none of the other options are doing the job).

I must admit when Rutten was looking shaky up till half time, and Bock was servicable but not brilliant up forward, i was calling for the switch. Craig though produced the masterstroke by sending Bock back, not to Fev, but to the CHB to improve our overall structure in defence. Worked a treat:thumbsu: (credit to Rutten for a gutsy mid-game comeback)

Now, Richo is a unique beast. Tall, quick, amazing mark, huge engine, starts up the ground then goes deep and so on over the course of a game. I am just not sure if Rutten is the guy for him, and it may be hard to keep match-ups right if we try to keeping swapping a defender and midfielder depending on where he goes to. As alluded to in the previous paragraph, Bock should probably stay at CHB unless a desperate situation calls for a change (this may become that very situation!!).

Therefore, I'd love to see Moran get the gig. Keeps our structure intact. He is the only athletic match we have. If he fails, then it's back to Bock, Rutten or Stevens (I know Stevens did well on Goodes for a good amount of the Sydney match, so will possibly be the man this week but Goodes was injured and i reckon Moran a far better match-up).

Tippett to come in if this plan eventuates.

Worth a shot?

If not would you rather Bock, Rutten, Stevens, or a defender/midfielder combo (ala what we did with Franklin in 4thQ of the Hawks game).

i love richo except of course when he plays against us.

i was just thinking of the matchup myself and agreed with you that i didnt think that rutten was the best option either.

with that said it will depend on how richo plays either up forward or on the wing.

up forward they may play rutten against him, on the wing they may play moran.

hopefully the cats have soften the tigers up for us. huge game again.

Bock will get him if he runs up the ground, however, if Richo plays deep we might see Bock swap with Rutten. I actually think Bock is the right match up because he's pretty good at knowing when to zone off Richo and when to go with him. Would also make Richo accountable. I wouldn't mind seeing Moran up forward again, especially if Tippet's still not in the side, swapping with Maric when required.

The way I see it your suggestion is the best one...... keep our defence in tact, we need a foward and Moran is our best opion at the moment we can always change if need be.

What i am saying is that with Richo often playing up on the wing for sections of the match, playing Bock on him actually does the reverse of keepin gour defence intact.

If keeping the defence structurally intact is the aim, Bock should stay at CHB.

If Richo is our major concern above structure, then yes Bock is the safest option.

When we drafted Moran, my first thought was that he could be an excellent opponent for Richardson. I remember last year in the game against Richmond at AAMI, Truck could not get around him and in a rare occurrence, looked really helpless. Might have cost us the game but they just fell short.

Having said all of this, I really like what Moran brought to our forward line on Saturday. He showed far more footy nous than I would’ve ever given him credit for, his leading was superb and I’d like to see him given the time and confidence to play that role for the rest of the season.

Can’t remember how we dealt with Richardson earlier this year (or what role he played for that matter) but I don’t think he had an impact. Given that he injured his knee in the Geelong game, I can’t see him playing that wing role he’s been playing for most of this year. We’ll implement whatever plan that we implemented against him in that game, and Moran will continue his late charge at the Coleman :p

Wouldn’t mind either Tippett or Griffin coming in for this week’s game to play as the second ruckman, only problem is I don’t know who would come out. Would give Moran the opportunity to get up the ground a bit (ala Richardson) and get Maric into the forward line, there’s some excellent dynamics in that setup. Moran’s rucking isn’t really up to AFL standard either (well, its better than Deluca!) so I wouldn’t want to see him doing more than the occasional inside 50 ruck work.

Maric is a gun. Golden boot, doesn’t miss the gettable goals and has a knack for getting some difficult ones. Knows how to lead, can take a contested grab, or even crumb goals. Gun.

Gun!!!

Not sure Moran would be able to go with Richo. He has the stature and the pace but Richo is an exceptional athlete (I must confess, I have no idea of Moran's endurance running capability).

I think mr fixit should get him if he plays up the ground, leaving Bock at CHB and Moran at FF, I dont think they have a tall def to match up on Moran. Maybe Moore but I think Moran would be too strong for him.

I dont think Moran is or will be any good in the ruck and his defensive game still worries me a bit.

Bring in tippet to help out in the ruck which will also give us some more options , if we need them , to deal with the great man Richo.

If we take control of the middle , remember last time they killed us in the middle , and show the same aggression and passion that we showed after Porp went down richo wont be a problem.
