I heard a ruor that Bundy was kissing Tommy Lonergan's girlfriend. The players told him, "If you show up on the oval, you'll never leave the oval again."

Just a ruor.

Colbert for mine. Captains shouldn't walk out on clubs unless they're retiring. Murphy was just a dropkick, who was a bad trade, a worse player but didn't hang around long enough for me to really hate him when he left. He also disappeared from the radar after his playing days. I was reminded of the Colbert treachery every time they crossed to him on the sidelines for his rancid comments.

Colbert is a grudge I still hold. Murphy is a w@&£€r I've forgotten about. He's not hated, he's just not worth remembering.

All that being said, with regard to Colbert, I still maintain that was a f£€#%ing mark and we woz robbed.

Based on this I assume you have some similar bitterness towards Doug Wade as well?

Captain in 1972.

Joined North at the end of that season under the '10 year Rule'.

I did.
Was devastated for many years and had an irrational hatred of NM and Barassi.
Really wanted Pies to win the 75 GF.
And really wanted Hawks to beat NM in GF's back then.
Time is a healer. Now Wade is welcomed like a prodigal son. Wonder if Colbert would be accepted if he came to work for the club.

I don't think you can compare the two. Wade is a living legend of the Geelong Footy Club (I am biased as I did have number 23 on my back as a 7 year old), and whilst it hurt like hell when he left, it was a different era then when there wasn't the big money around that there is now. Wade was offered a deal he couldn't refuse right at the end of his career. Colbert on the other hand was nursed through a major knee injury by the club, before he ever played a game as captain, then left us! I'm sure he will never be welcomed back at the club, and rightly so.

I'd hope that the club is bigger than us supporters are allowed to be. I would expect the President and CEO to take the high road and welcome any ex-players back to the club for past players functions and the like: Murphy, Colbert, whoever. Maybe not immediately after they leave, but once this length of time has passed (~15 years), why not? Holding grudges is fine for individual supporters, but for an entire footy club to do so just looks petty. Unless there are some absolutely exceptional circumstances (like the player in question has committed a criminal offence against the club), I say any ex-player should be welcome.

Ronnie Burns, such a selfish hog. Hated him!
Like the avatar.
Berisha is a star.
But Chapman is a star in the making, brilliant game by him on Saturday, stood up under duress from all reports, and was the only MC player to do so.

Ohh.....I hope this quick flash back might change your recollection a little...."Some Magic from Ronnnieee!"

In the space of a game he would cover everything from the sublime to utter comedy. Love him or hate him......a game featuring Ronnie was certainly worth the price of admission in the dark days of the late 90's.

Yeah Chapman has been very good for you guys since he come in to the side. One to keep an eye on for the future.

He had his days yeah, but above all he was frustrating as hell to watch especially live, there was one game at the MCG that i'll never forget, against Essendon back in 99 he was so selfish and infuriated us so much half of the bay I was sitting in wanted to jump the fence and club him one!

I can't remember that far back (suppressed memories) but we had beaten Sydney, Adelaide and the Hawks all late in the season so could've done it again. Just made it tough from outside the 4- which is where the extra points earlier in the season would've come in handy.

It's all water under the bridge now- all 'what if's, etc. etc.
(Late reply sorry) I remember at that point the media were asking whether we were the dark horse able to be the first team to win the premiership from outside the top 4. We had a great run into finals after beating the Swans, Crows, and Hawks. Which is why our loss against Freo was an absolute shock. I remember sitting there unable to process what was going on.

People don't like Ronnie Burns?

The whole team wasn't exactly a model of consistency between 1996 to 2002. Ronnie pretty much epitomized that. But he was fun to watch.

2012? Used all our fuel tickets to finish in the 8 and not miss the finals as reigning premiers. That would be embarrassing!

Totally agree with all you've said - which makes the Hocking v Hocking situation somewhat farcical, if very sad.
