I'm a vocal East Perth fan, so naturally I hate West Perth the most. As the most successful club in the competition I can the Sharks getting a few votes from the baby boomers, and with the Lions domination in the past 5 years I'd suspect they'll get a few votes for that purpose. Peel are yet to play finals footy, and considering there current history I'd be surprised if anyone voted for them on the fact other than thinking their a waste of time.

I've been a die-hard Souths supporter since ever... But interestingly I've never thought of East Freo as my most hated. I've never particularly liked them, and have always gained the greatest satisfaction from beating them (and felt the worst after a loss to them) - yet I have never hated them.

Back in the 70s when I was a wee tacker I hated East Perth. And I hated them because my Grannie had two favourite teams - South Freo and East Perth. I could never get that. She reckoned it was because my dad was a South supporter and her other child (my uncle) was an East Perth supporter so she couldn't choose between them. :thumbsd: I always suspected she liked East Perth better than Souths and it used to piss me off enormously... :D

Then in the late 70s and early 80s it was Swans and Claremont as they seemed to be the big two nemeses for my beloved Souths. I hated Swans cos of Ron Boucher and Simon Beasley, and I hated Claremont because of Graham Moss and Warren Ralph. I even wrote a short story when I was in Year 8 with Graham Moss as the bad-guy character... :o

I was secretly thrilled by the Narkles and the Krakouers, but I never told anyone cos my hatred of their clubs did not allow me to share this info... ;) It was the Krakouers leaving Claremont and playing for North Melbourne that gave me a VFL club to barrack for (only till 1995 mind you...).

Since then I haven't really had a club I dislike that intensely. Subi shits me now cos of the way they dominate and I do believe they must be rorting the salary cap but hey it's gut feel nothing specific so I'm probably wrong plus they've got Daniel Chick and Phil Read, so as a self-respecting Freo fan they have to up there; I still don't like Claremont much, nor East Perth; I don't mind Swans at all these days...

I've always quite liked West Perth - ever since I was playing kick to kick at a barbecue once when I was about 11, and Brian Adamson was one of the guests. He was pretty big at the time and wandered over to have a kick with us kids. He told me that I was a better mark and kick than the boys and it was a shame that girls couldn't play league footy... :D

Now these days my son is a Sharkies supporter, and being such a Freocentric Freophile these days, I have kind of adopted them as my second team being a Freo team and all - as well as for a bit of support for my son through their recent dark days... that plus there's so many Freo players playing there it's hard not to take an interest in how they are playing...

Long story made short - depends what's going on in the comp at any one time... right now I guess it's probably Subiaco. But that could change once they stop winning all the bloody time, and Chick / Read / Fletcher are no longer playing... ;)

Thanks for sharing your anecdote, ImperialPurple.

Oh how, that all brings back memories. Swans was the first team that I really, really loathed. How could a kid who supported Claremont not just loathe Beaser back in the early 80s? Oh yeah, and Boucher. And the Narkles, Stuart Gillespie, Don Holmes, Craig Hoyer and Gerard Neesham (although not surprisingly my views on Neesham changed when he came to Claremont. :D).

Although by the mid 80s most of those players had all moved on and my hatred for Swans had too. East Fremantle became the new team I grew to dislike with intensity. Subiaco wasn't far behind them and my feelings for both those horrible clubs hasn't changed much to this day. Even more so that both these clubs have given Claremont quite some grief in finals over the years.

my mates grandfather who happen to a leeder, who's family donated the land to west perth for leederville oval once said (by the way he was a pow in a japanese war camp) said" if japan was playing east perth on anzac day, he would be going for the japs" now's that hatred. he would rowing over in his grave if he know that east perth now play out of garlic park (leederville oval)

Great story! :thumbsu:

here's another one. an older guy who i worked with, who's old man used to be assistant with east fremantle and his mother every saturday would cook breakfast for the head and her husband. his mother refused to speak with my workmate who was seduced to the darkside (the bulldogs) after fallening with an old easts reserves coach. not sure how many years she didnt speak with son?

Can't fathom how anyone could hate Big Bad Ronny Boucher.:D

Subiaco, can't stand them.

Kram, I thought all self-respecting Swans supporters had to hate the Cardies? Well, from my era they did anyway.

Not enough hatred for Souths on these boards, I am a little surprised.

Jealous, much? Face it, you hate our guts because we are richer than you, have better players than you and are of course more successful than you.

I'm sure 10 years ago, the lions would be one of the least hated. Look what 4 premierships in 5 years does to your reputation

Pissweak people, pissweak:thumbsd:

As a Souths supporter it has to be the two Easts with East Freo just getting the nod.....these days I feel sorry for both of them;) so it's becoming Subi mainly because of their supporters.

what supporters? they need to run a tape of people cheering and that was in the finals. pretty pissweak actually. just to spread the hatred, hope the cash cow dies and your team cames back to earth. still very pissed at losing chick and read to a salary cap cheating forking pussies.

brown paper bags and white goods is the subi way.

Come on now Chrsco the Stan Magro versus the entire Sidebottom family was a long time ago...time to move on my friend...;)

You should know if you take on 1 sidebottom you have to deal with the whole family. :D BTW, I didn't vote for souths tundra, just a general observation that I thought Sowfs would attract more hatred.

I'm with Smeagle people, it's got to be a gutteral, primal hatred, not just because they are successful!
