MRP / Trib. MRP Lotto thread II

MRO and Tribunal both separately also judged it to be a swinging arm, for what it's worth.
Congratulations, you share an opinion with a bunch of proven idiots?

This was the worst one to appeal

The Curtis/Archer suspensions were bullshit and shouldn't have occurred. The fact the tribunal upheld them was wrong.

The Xerri one was textbook and we were always a very low chance of succeeding on appeal.

Only read the evidence but not sure who was advising big X. He should have been told to say he tried to tackle Sparrow and he only caught him high because he got pushed forward and low.

His evidence made the AFL case very easy.

That defense wouldn't have worked unfortunately. Tribunal has clearly established precedent that any attempt to tackle/bump will be judged careless if it ends up collecting someone high.

The only defense that maybe had a chance (and still would have been unlikely to succeed) would be to say that Xerri putting his arm out was part of his natural motion/body mechanics to balance after a ruck contest, especially considering Gawn had held his arm and Xerri was off-balance.

That could have swung it from 'careless' to 'accidental'.

It would have been a low percentage chance anyway, but significantly better than the dumb argument we put forward tonight.

Do I or dont I know? That’s confusing.

Why go on a tangent about the huddle? I couldn’t give a flying rats toss bag about Sonjas relationships. She should have stuck with the huddle and not put her hand up for the top job.

The board needs a clean out.

Of course the problem is Sonja, Watt and Kearney. Just a coincidence I'm sure..

Agree with that, but even so, our defence was poorly constructed.

Should have led with the Salem push changing Sparrow's velocity and height, then pushed back when that AFL w***er said "that's not how it works" with a video of the Camporeale incident from the same weekend.

Still would have been upheld, but at least the corruption would have been clear to everyone.

I can recall several instances where North players have been concussed, as recently as last week, and the offender has not been penalised..
I don't recall many where a North player has caused concussion and not had book thrown at them.

It’s almost as if we’re used as a crash test dummy.

It's true and we missed a trick not using it in the Xerri defence. Simply pose the question as to why Xerri had a duty of care, including anticipating Sparrow going lower, but Richards had no such duty of care because LDU went lower.

Accidents only happen to North players, never by them.

So LDU going lower than Richards anticipated, while Richards put out an elbow.... LDU's fault

Sparrow suddenly falling low because of a team mate's push, "reasonably foreseeable".... X's fault

At least they're consistent, it's always our fault! 🙄
That's why the AFL tribunal refuses to allow precedence of prior tribunal hearings as a defence by a player.
