They don’t need a kpf

I think they take sellwood the defender
And further to this sellwood would be a good choice for us also as that rebounding defender

Either way we can’t go wrong with May or Sellwood imo

Now watch Brady do something stupid and pick some random skinny bloke

Won’t bother extending it out but I reckon the top 3 prospects would be:

1. Tom McCarthy
2. Archer May
3. Michael Selwood.

I’ll be happy if we pick any of the 3.
If its out of those three May makes the most sense,
CCJ, K.Dawson, Darling, Corr and Teakle all probably out the door in the next 24 months.
We need to replace these guys, not necessarily by world beaters but by players who will be able to compete.
And who knows you keep cycling through some of these players and you might find a diamond.

The thing is, the MSD and SSP aren’t exactly breeding grounds for key position players. Only been a few across the since their inception that have made the grade. You are far more likely to hit on a mature age midfielder or half back.

We desperately need half back depth, and having someone who can step in from day dot would be a huge win.

Oh I agree it's a less of a chance at hitting the jackpot. I just talking list make up.
We've got options at half back thou, Hardeman playing well elevates the pressure a lot, Archer and Goater both started to like they were starting to hit their stride before injury, Ford is another who I thought would take to that position like a duck to water, O'Sullivan my guess will play another year back. All of these guys are at the start of the career rather than the end.

I wouldn't be against picking up an experienced half back end of year and watching the above shuffle positions.

But we might find ourselves with zero key position depth again, if we don't start churning through players now, picking up one or two a year and slowly cycling out the above mentioned.

Our list is still a massive work in progress.

I still think we're in desperate need of a bigger body in the middle, and 2x small forwards I don't know where they come from either.

Last years draft was the one where we should’ve went harder to get more talls. So many in that 2nd round and beyond are already looking like having a decent future.

It’s why the Daniel trade pissed me off so much. We been waiting for years for a draft with some KP depth and for whatever reason we didn’t see it as a priority .

Completely agree walking away with both Whitlocks in that draft would've gone a long way to addressing the issue.
Even if they weren't available, there would've been others. Someone like Trainor would've dropped.
I think most were horrified giving away that much capitol.

we should've walked away,

And I'm one of the few that have no issue for trading for him, even now, ifs CD came up for trade again Id be inquiring, but you have to know when to walk away.

I'd take May,

You have to follow the eye test.

His movement and his agility looks very promising at 198cm.

Not a clunker, but he clearly has worked on his body these past 18 months.

Teakle is going at the end of the year.

Darling is 34 next year.

We are multiple injuries to any two of Larkey, Maley and Darling to being screwed.

Larkey has been super durable and we've been happy walking that tight rope for a long time.

None of the half backs jump off the page to me, but there's a 20 year old KPF doing more than alright at WAFL level with plenty of development left.

He's a better footballer than Maley was when we drafted him imo.

Can you suggest where the May-curious should look? I've only seen the short clip that was posted here a little while ago.

I was trying to find some decent footage of him from this year, but there seems to be SFA recent videos on the Subiaco website and YT channel, and nothing on the WAFL highlights part of the AFL site either?

He’d be the next cab off the rank. Have heard recently though through 3rd hand info that he doesn’t want to move from SA.
So who would be the next small FWD then?
