We are walking into a Collingwood trap.

18month contract, vocally putting it out there that they’ve sat him out of wafl the last round.

Fly pulls a joke and gives Caleb daniel a coaches vote as a lol, tempting us to turn on them and say **** you we are taking your bloke at 2 on an 18 month contract.

Collingwood sit back and laugh
Would be funny if that were to be the case

In all seriousness, May already has Brereton in his corner, which certainly helps in terms of being drafted. I think there is almost no chance of him being overlooked in this draft, whether it's Collingwood or any other club. But given he's now 2 years out of U18 system, the recruiters should be able to tell where his ceiling is likely at. I would be happy if we took him

I'd still really like a state league half back, really feel like it's an area we have no depth, especially with Daniel stinking it up and Archer, Goater and Bergman all injured. Feel like it's more of a need than full forward.

Really wish WC didn't take McCarthy. I think he is going to be a solid AFL footballer. Then again I think Sellwood has all the tools to be a solid interceptor too.

If we forget the current injury situation (it's not like we are in the finals race) - Goater and Hardeman combo is looking pretty good for years to come. Both have some elite traits, not just some band aid solutions we've been applying down there with mids filling the role. Whereas full forward options outside of Larkey are virtually non existent, if we assume that Comben stays in the backline. And I don't mean for this season but on the list as a whole.

True, but for that reason it's even more important to be getting a quality KPF like you potentially could with an early 20s pick in the ND or earlier if we trade up. For me the MSD is a place to pick potential role players not key pieces that you want to base a forward line around.

I'd love that. Nippy small forward with skills and a clunking KPP out of our VFL program.

I'll be perplexed if we take Trembath (despite seeing some of his potential upside). He has played 1 game in our VFL side despite being on the list for over 18 months.

If we rated him, we would have been playing ahead of James Tarrant.

Which picks do the Roos have in the Mid-Season Rookie Draft?

North Melbourne will hold the second pick in the 2025 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft

North Melbourne will hold the second pick in the 2025 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft, which will be held on Wednesday, May 28 from 6.30pm AEST.

Due to the postponement of an Opening Round game, the AFL determined the draft order on a reverse win percentage basis. The order for clubs on the same win percentage was determined by the for/against percentage. The West Coast Eagles hold the first pick in this year’s AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft, which will be held remotely with clubs selecting their players online.

For clubs to participate in the AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft, they must have had an available list spot by 5pm on Tuesday May 27.

The 2025 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft will be broadcast exclusively on AFL.com.au and the AFL Live Official App.

There is nothing to say that Archer May isn't equal to a pick 20 in the ND, potentially. The fact he wasn't drafted in his draft year is not relevant here. He's now been playing against men for 2 seasons (or 1.5) and if he is a latish developer, we now have a better picture of where he may end up than any new draftee.

Not saying he's going to play 200 games, but I'm certainly happy to trust Thursfield if he does go for him

I've lost all confidence in the "MSD player x would be pick y in the ND" after Jacob Edwards who was apparently first round or even top ten quality but busted out worse than any first round pick ever has.

On the bright side... it would have hurt a lot more if we had wasted a top ten pick on him. Glass half full I guess.

I may be oversimplifying it, but it appears the mistake we have made a few times in the MSD was to go for 19 year olds playing as overage players in the U18 comp. It can be misleading seeing someone dominate kids who are a year or two younger after missing out on being drafted in the previous ND. That was certainly the case with Edwards and Payne.

A much better guide is looking at 19/20/21 year olds who have played against men at various levels.

Bulldogs won't let Banch through - They've told him they will pick him if he gets to their pick
