I'm surprised no threads have been made on this. It's on the AFL website, and its why he didn't line up for south freo on the weekend.

Ryan Murphy (finger) - season

i'm quite disappointed. Wanted him to play out the year so theres a chance we could trade him and a fifth rouder for a fourth rounder :D

Or maybe that's what happened when he tried to... he's had it stuck all the way up in there for the last 2 years...

And people thought he was enough to take the pressure off of Pav. Thank God we picked up Tarrant. Even if he is playing in the backline, at least we have that additional tall option, which is so vital right now.

Shame about Murphy. That's him done now. Too bad we didn't trade him to Port as part of the Josh Carr deal. I think he had everyone fooled.

Murphy is a classic example of a player that has ALL of the physical attributes to make a great player. He can take a mark, good kicking technique and physically big and strong enough.

Pity that he never had the brain to go with it. The lack of heart in recent years has been the most galling thing of all. What a waste of a high draft pick. Give him everything and he returns nothing.:thumbsd:

Time to create space on the list for a player that REALLY wants it and plays like that every week. Enter the list Mr Broughton!

I think you're wrong here. Not looking at his details (so I maybe wrong), but by looking at him I think he is a touch short for a key forward spot in todays football. He doesn't seem to have the tank to run upfield and back. Also he has never looked like someone that would hit the gym hard.

Add to that our delivery into the forward line has always been shizen, and I dont think we have had ever had a good forward line coach.

I'll agree on the rest though

Listed as 193cm that is 1cm taller than Pav who is obviously our best forward. There is also a MASSIVE difference in application, attack on the ball and intelligence. As you say , I dont think Murphy has applied himself in the gym and building up his running ability.
Delivery has never been great and I would go further and say not only have we never had a great forward coach. We have never had a great coach!:thumbsd:

We're all hoping that your buddy comes onstream next year, DL. I'm sure we'd much rather talk up Sibo's chances at playing, than bemoan why we gave Murphy yet another game...

You are spot on there. I really do see Sibo as a serious forward for us in future. As it is we have nothing to lose dropping Murphy and elevating Sibo up at the end of this year. A full pre season will do wonders, by the middle of next year we may well see him holding down a FF or Pocket position. Unfortunately, at the moment we are seriously lacking in that area.:(

Or how about we get someone extra in the draft to fill Murphy's spot and wait to see whether Sibosado can actually play before elevating him? He'll still get the full pre season, and if he kicks some goals at WAFL level then he might get a chance.

Great post Rob. The hype about Sibosado is just ridiculous. As things are Sibo has sfa!!!!! Some on here are hypeing him up like they did Calib Mourish a year or two ago:eek::confused:

Yep, we'd essentially be trading our 4th rounder for Sibo if we upgraded him so leave him on the rookie list.
