This is the side i would like to see up and running next year:

B: Andrew Welsh Dustin Fletcher Henry Slattery
HB: Adam McPhee Kepler Bradley Nathan Lovett-Murray
C: Brent Stanton Jobe Watson Ricky Dyson
HF: Scott Lucas Courtney Johns Mark Johnson
F: Andrew Lovett Matthew Lloyd Bryce Gibbs ( our 1st pick)
Foll: David Hille Jason Johnson Angus Monfries
Inter: Scott Camporeale Paddy Ryder Mark McVeigh Richard Cole
Emerg: Jason Laycock Jason Winderlich Dean Solomon

This is also taking into consideration that hirdy and rioli both retire and that we finish last and grab gibbs for our 1st pick, and this is the side that i think have potential if used right and players who i think have something but ain't used right aswell

I'd have Laycock ahead of Ryder, Winderlich ahead of Dyson and all things being even I'd have Solly ahead of Cole.

If Heff continues his form he's in our best 22 and I'd also expect Hird to play next year.

I also wouldn't be suprised if by years end, Andrew Lee is in our best side.

When we do have a full list to choose from, things really don't look as bad as they are. Providing we not only have a full list but also a fit list.

Very important we draft well.

Probably have to agree with everything you said there mate.

Could Johns, Lucas, Lloyd and Hird all function in the same forward line?

Probably not, although he hasn't got Hird in that starting side.

I was off the Reynolds bandwagon a few weeks ago, and I wouldn't say I'm back on it yet, the jury is very much still out.

However, his form the last two weeks has been pleasing, apart from his inaccuracy infront of goal which must be rectified. You'd have to say his form has been better than that of Johns.

If Reynolds maintains that form, you'd think he'd offer us a better mix up forward with Lloyd back, than what Johns would.

A big if there, although Johns is no sure thing either.

Not many teams would have three big talls to man up on Lloyd, Lucas and Johns who are all big guys. as long as there are some crumbers if the ball hits the ground

You got Gibbs there, we all want Gibbs there.
But the problem is we wont get the first pick :)

Id have Hocking and Jolley before Ryder and Dyson purely for team balance...that starting side looks too tall for my liking. In saying that, as a team tactic, Id have Lloyd lead up the middle...Lucas and johns to either side of the 50 arc and hopefully we pick up some speed in the centre to be able to drill them in from the wing....

Put your money on us getting another high priced veteran midfielder/wing type to complement our side. Thus pushing out one of our regular names in the middle. This could come at the expense of perhaps Dyson or someone yet to establish himself as a senior player in his very early 20s.

How incomplete does our side look now with all that to plaugged into your brain matter

With Lloyd, Lucas and Johns all being Left footers and unable to kick right foot it would be abit unbalanced. I realy like how Johns has lead up the ground to the wing so that could be a role for him. Also with Lovett and Monfries in the forward line and possibly Gibbs??? there would be plenty of crumbing chances for them. Could possibly slot Andrew Lee into the backline aswell.

lloyd and johns in the forward line, lucas in at hlaf back

monfries, lovett crumbing

Johns will eventually be a CHF , he reads the play a lot better at CHF than he does at FF where he tends to lead early a lot of the time.

As i've quoted above i said this is the side i would like to see up and running next year as the players i have in there that u don't think i should i have reasons for, dyson has great skills finishes off well and kicks goals just don't think sheeds gives him a fair crack can't get a kids confidence up playing him for a quarter and a half to two quarters a game trust me keep him on the park and he will show us plenty, as 4 ryder i'm going on what sheeds built him upto b and that was that he was the best player in last years draft in his eyes so if he lives upto that then he nudges laycock 4 me who although would b ahead of ryder at the moment there is more of a wrap on ryder, cole was a very handy half backer 4 the pies gave them alot of run and uses the ball well which is what we need we just haven't seen it yet as hes been injured and solly has been up and down 4 the last year and half and won't get any better and thats the same opinion i have of heff although hes playing ok at the minute he has to manage to sustain it which in the past he hasn't been able to do, u maybe right about lee slotting him in down back but i can't comment as i haven't seen the boy play but have heard big wraps on him as i've stated b4 this is the side i would like to see going on what reputations they have and what i've seen they r capable of and can get better when they have been given a go, oh and obviously if hirdy plays he slots straight back in anywhere he wants to play

yeah well we better start winning games then won't we, to tell ya the truth bottoming out would b better than finishing 2nd or 3rd last in my opinion i know the wooden spoon sounds bad but at least we get something good out of it getting the best kid in the land and the best out of contract player in the pre season draft and we need these things, just spewing they changed the priority picks this year now that would of been alot handier

B: M.Johnson Fletcher Welsh
HB: Solomon Hansen McPhee
C: Bradley Stanton McVeigh
HF: McPhee Lucas Hird
F: Lovett Lloyd Reynolds
Ru: Hille Watson J.Johnson
Int: Winderlich, Camporeale, Laycock, Lovett-Murray
Emer: Monfries, Slattery, Lee

  • Could still change if we get someone good in the PSD
  • Love to draft Hansen for CHB as I'm still confident of avoiding the spoon, it's all hypothetical
  • Can't add Lee in, he may have a tone off potential but can't till I've seen in play in the Seniors

Yet you named a bloke who hasn't even played against men?

I presume Lee will probably get Brad Miller or Sautner tomorrow, should be a big test for him.

and reynolds stats are???????????????

Not as good, although I do think if he continues his form from the past two weeks he will be in our best 22 next year. Although at the expense of Johns. Not Monfries.

I was actually backing your claim.

9 disposals, 1.2
14 disposals, 2.2

i no you were.

i agree with you that it will be at the expense of johns.
i was his biggest fan up until the 6 minute mark of the first quarter against port a few weeks ago.

i had $50 on him at $13 to be the first goalkicker of the game and when he was lining up for that shot from 20 mtrs out directly in front i was already lining up to collect my easy$650. but he bloody missed(even my 80 yr old grandma could of kicked that), what made that miss even more frustrating was the next week against the crows he takes that mark outside 50 and has no trouble putting it through from 50 mtrs out, and i wasn't on him that night.
needless to say i nearly needed to purchase a new t.v after that(if you know wahat i mean).

has anyone heard of josh bowe that plays for the bendigo bombers?

well this is all speculative anyway and any of these players could be traded, if reynolds form continues they may trade him, we need to get another top 10 draft pick. We will also get the number 1 pre season draft pick, dont fool yourself supporters sheeds and co have earmarked us this year for the wooden spoon, why else would they confirm they will draft a highly rated uncontracted youngster, i think hansen may be in line but that rischetselli could also be handy, he is a keilor boy.

The fact that people are writing these sort of articles means that we admit our side is crap and will inevitably finish last, bring on gibbs and akermanis. akermanis will replace rioli on the list and we will draft youngsters with pick 1, 17, 18 and 33, hopefully we will have traded a half decent player to get another top 10 draft pick juniour.
