Nathan update?

What's the latest goss/news about N. Ablett?

Personally, I think if he had stuck around he'd be a great FF by now. I also think he has a bit of "x-factor" about him and he could easily be the KP forward for the future...so I'm curious...what's the latest?

Ankle injury delays Nathan Ablett return to VFL
Michael Auciello
August 6th, 2008

GEELONG premiership forward Nathan Ablett is expected to make his return to VFL football next week.
The 21-year-old rolled an ankle two weeks ago, forcing him out of a comeback game which was initially expected to come last weekend against Collingwood.
The injury is likely to see him also miss this week's game against Sandringham, with a return now expected against Port Melbourne at Skilled Stadium next Sunday.
Ablett walked out on the Cats in January this year, but has been at all VFL training sessions since returning to the club a month ago.
Tom Hawkins, who has been suffering a foot injury, is also expected to return next week against the Boroughs.
Meanwhile, former Geelong VFL player Simon Clarke is gravely ill in a Vienna hospital after developing the blood-poisoning condition sepsis.
The 26-year-old was on a tour through Europe when he developed an infection after having a tooth taken out.
Clarke was taken to hospital in the Austrian capital after passing out.
He played 27 games for Geelong over three years after crossing from Essendon's VFL affiliate, the Bendigo Bombers, where he played 10 games.
He played 10 games for the Cats last season, but suffered a hamstring injury four weeks before the finals and did not make it back as the team made its way towards the premiership.
Geelong had been hoping Clarke would return to the club after his trip.

Re: Nathan update?

Hypothetical. Say Hawkins foot isn't up to scratch late in the finals and Lonergan is struggling or injured. Would the club consider putting Nathan in the side even though he has missed pre-season and most of the year. Does that send the wrong signals to players at the club, especially those who have put in the hard work all year?

I dont think it would; the greater population might think so, but the team knows what has to be done to succeed, and if a couple of talls are knocked down, they'd go with best option, which would appear to be Nath.

Re: Nathan update?

yes NAB could Bradbury his way into back to back Grand Finals......... but ive got more chance of scoring with Pamela Anderson........

* Pamela Anderson is a total Whore...so there is a small amount of hope............................................................ For Nathan :p

Re: Nathan update?

would need two injuries to talls and nathan to play exceptionally well in the magoos to unfold on would think

Hope Simon Clarke is alright too... Poor guy.

The thing with Ablett is between him, hawkins, egan and taylor we may have a good chance of having a descent spine for 8-10 years and a very good shot at the title for the next 2-3.

Do a little more research into what it takes to get not just physically fit, but match fit to be competitive at AFL level. These guys don't spend 4 days a week, sometimes more... training for nothing. The team doesn't want to carry Nath anymore, they want him to but his stamp on it. This takes hard work, VERY hard work. Nath isn't up for it. If he comes back it will be in the general Lonergan type role of kicking goals when we're on top, disappearing when under the pump. Can't belive all you hopefuls are still so desperate for his return...:( whether he comes back or not, won't influence the club greatly one way or another.

Both Bomber and Neil Balme have stated categorically that NAblett WILL NOT be considered for AFL this year.

Where is Nathan Ablett at?

Does anyone know or has seen Nathan at training or know if he will play in the 2's this year?
