...and in the latest news breaking story Nathan Freeman is believed to have signed a contract for the upcoming TV series Celebrity Hamstrings. When asked how he intends to make all the arduous recordings in Sydney for the program Nathan is quoted as saying "I'm Flying".

Believe it......or not.

Increasingly looking like the Jesse W. Smith recruitment. Wouldn't be surprised if Freeman pulls the pin before the end of year, contract or not.
This is close to the most ridiculous post I have ever seen on BigFooty, which is quite an effort.

fair enough missed that announcement
"ST KILDA recruit Jake Carlisle has been banned by the AFL for the first two matches of the 2016 home and away season after a Snapchat video of him allegedly taking illicit drugs was released."

Why should there be any other announcement?

Coz he won't get on the park often enough / hamstring issues
And you think he'll throw away roughly $600k as a 20 year old because of that? Would you forfeit that kind of money because you couldn't get on the park? An intelligent person would fulfil their contract, especially if they think that it might end up being the last of their career. Saying he'd pull the pin early is laughable.

Exactly, we took a risk which is required.
Freeman is a potential game changer.

Does a second rounder (wherever that is after compos, etc) have as much a chance of being a game changer as freeman.
Ever heard of Simon Black/Luke Parker/Hanneberry/etc. Hint: Carlisle was also a second round pick.

This is close to the most ridiculous post I have ever seen on BigFooty, which is quite an effort.
You really need to surf bigfooty more if you consider my post is the apex of ridiculous posts on bigfooty. What I posted is quite tame. Ever read any of GG.exe's posts! Nah, just don't read his stuff, it might shatter your definition of outrageous.

I think people do quit despite money if they figure out if they are going to recover or not.

For all the extreme reactions to my post, the reality is Freeman is a gamble. Some percentage is that he recovers to play and some percentage that he quits completely. The recurring nature of his injuries mean that it might mean a scenario where Freeman is told to quit by the doctors/loses faith. Just coz he has a contract doesn't mean he'll continue in it if he believes that recovery isn't possible.

I am just saying I won't be surprised if that happens. It's a higher possibility now. Just because a scenario is extreme, doesn't mean it won't happen. If I said to you at the end of last year, "Hey, Cloke isn't going that well, he might end up in VFL on ANZAC day weekend next year", you may have called me a troll. I didn't say that coz I don't follow Collingwood that well. But given Freeman's record so far, it's a possibility, which sounds extreme in today's world, but is a real possibility if Freeman continues to have recurring hamstrings. (And not as improbable as an alien invasion)

I am not saying that's exactly what's going to happen. I hope Freeman recovers and plays 300 games for the saints, but I won't be surprised if Freeman just doesn't make it and quits by the end of this year/early next season.

If by "quit" you mean retire and collect his next 2 years pay checks (minus match payments) then I guess that a possibility (<25% even if he plays zero VFL games IMO).

If by "quit" you mean walk away from contract entirely and forego 300-400k out of the goodness of his heart. Then go and deliver pizzas for 30k a year while starting a TAFE course, then that suggests your name may refer to being recently freed from an insane asylum. I would schedule a check up with your doctors.

Contracts are there to protect both parties and he's free to collect in this case. Even if he gave up trying to play afl again, I would think you'd take the 2 years free health care to try and ensure your body is in best condition you can for the rest of your life.

no thanks for the insult. Obviously, the first option you suggest is Freeman's last probable option if he doesn't recover/has recurring hamstrings.

Calm down people Freebloke offered up an opinion, it's unlikely he retires for a whole range of reasons but other footballers have pulled the pin to start outside careers early after becoming frustrated so it doesn't need shouting down. I think Nathan seems like a really upbeat and positive guy so probably not in the middle of an existential crisis yet but constant set backs can do crazy things to peoples psyche. I hope he gets back and plays some footy at some level soon so we can stop talking about his hamstrings and judge his footy.
