Exactly, we took a risk which is required.
Freeman is a potential game changer.
Does a second rounder (wherever that is after compos, etc) have as much a chance of being a game changer as freeman.
Ever heard of Simon Black/Luke Parker/Hanneberry/etc. Hint: Carlisle was also a second round pick.
This is close to the most ridiculous post I have ever seen on BigFooty, which is quite an effort.
You really need to surf bigfooty more if you consider my post is the apex of ridiculous posts on bigfooty. What I posted is quite tame. Ever read any of GG.exe's posts! Nah, just don't read his stuff, it might shatter your definition of outrageous.
And you think he'll throw away roughly $600k as a 20 year old because of that? Would you forfeit that kind of money because you couldn't get on the park? An intelligent person would fulfil their contract, especially if they think that it might end up being the last of their career. Saying he'd pull the pin early is laughable.
I think people do quit despite money if they figure out if they are going to recover or not.
For all the extreme reactions to my post, the reality is Freeman is a gamble. Some percentage is that he recovers to play and some percentage that he quits completely. The recurring nature of his injuries mean that it
might mean a scenario where Freeman is told to quit by the doctors/loses faith. Just coz he has a contract doesn't mean he'll continue in it if he believes that recovery isn't possible.
I am just saying I won't be surprised if that happens. It's a higher possibility now. Just because a scenario is extreme, doesn't mean it won't happen. If I said to you at the end of last year, "Hey, Cloke isn't going that well, he might end up in VFL on ANZAC day weekend next year", you may have called me a troll. I didn't say that coz I don't follow Collingwood that well. But given Freeman's record so far, it's a possibility, which sounds extreme in today's world, but is a real possibility if Freeman continues to have recurring hamstrings. (And not as improbable as an alien invasion)
I am not saying that's exactly what's going to happen. I hope Freeman recovers and plays 300 games for the saints, but I won't be surprised if Freeman just doesn't make it and quits by the end of this year/early next season.
