We didnt draft Freeman an Carlisle for next yrs output. We drafted them to be cherry ripe in 3 yrs time when we start kicking teams arse again.

And how many games will Freeman have played by then? If Collingwood with all their resources couldnt get him right - Im very pesermistic about his chances = zero!

I was treated by Collingwoods physio when I went there so they definitely work there

Did people really think we were getting Freo in perfect nick and that collingwood was the entire problem?

He's bound to have re-occurances of this issue and there will be snags along the way but you gotta back the medicos in to get him right over time.

I agree that it's a bonus if freeman plays- like that jesse whatshisname from north a few years ago.
Difference being of course we paid a whole lot less than a second round pick.

I'm still scratching my head as to how/why we paid market value + overs for an uncontracted player who nominated us (and only us).

That whole "to show we're good to deal with, so we can get jaeger etc" approach has already cost us PLENTY. (freeman + paying pick 5 AND a 2nd rounder for jake)

It had better amount to something otherwise we are just "good to deal with" because we're happy to get bent over the trade table!

Was told it's very minor. We are being super cautious with freeman. I'm told physically think of it as a complete rebuild of his leg and back muscles this preseason when his in the gym. We will get 10-15 games out of him next year.

I remember getting Jason Gram from Brissy and him taking a while to get over the injuries he came with. Hopefully we get a similar run from Nathan once he gets his hamstrings right. I was worried we over paid for him because of the strings. If it's worse than they are saying we have made a couple of over priced trades. Jake would have come at a much lower cost 24 hours later and if Freeman had just broken down at the end of last year he would have been Jesse Smith cheap.

Take it easy champ his career isn't ruined yet.

The truth is somewhere in the middle. It's a very bad sign he has had another strain but could be nothing serious and will eventually get over it all. I'm distantly related to him and hope he comes on more than anyone but it's a worry.

I have to agree with this to a point. I was all for getting Freeman to our club, but when you look at what Aish went for who has shown that he will be an A Grade mid already and pretty durable at that i think that we paid overs for Freeman who wanted out, was out of contract, hasn't played a game, injury prone. 3rd rounder should have been sufficient.

For a start we got Carlisle and Gresham for pick 5. You forgot about Gresham?

We got Rice and White for unders and we still have first round next season.

You do know we can trade for more picks next year if we want OR got to FA.

Yep- granted joffa i didn't include pick 14, but the point still stands.
We paid overs for both jake and nathan when we didn't need to, apparently in the hope that we are seen to be "good to deal with".

As i said; that is a strategy that has cost us plenty to date, lets hope like hell we actually land a big fish because of it.

Otherwise it's just excuses for getting reamed by the bombers and pies.

I hope he gets over what seems to be a minor hammy issue, but ultimately he is a new recruit who will be fighting to get a game along with all our other new recruits, and if he is going to be a gun midfielder, he needs those hammys in top condition.
