Can't seem to focus on a single My Player, but so far made a SG, PG and C, PG got drafted to LA, starter in his first game but so far it's by far the hardest position to play, swear everytime i feed it to Kobe in the open he misses... My 7'2 Center was dominating, then Washington traded Blatche for Childress and someone who is getting 3 minutes a game, went from being competitive to copping a 40 point loss. Basically the only two decent players now are me and John Wall, but reaping in the endorsements etc.

Really should play shorter games instead of full 12 minute periods, but anything less seems to result in tiny scorelines.

We are rated 89 overall as a team which is equal third and yet we are down the bottom end of the conference. I've gotta think it's me but when I check my performance after each game, I seem to be breaking even or slightly edging out or losing to my direct opponents.

Since CP3 arrived and Kyrie Irving was moved to starter at SG in place of Ramon Sessions, my team has improved but we seem to always lose by only a few points. The team is fairly young I suppose so maybe it's that...

PG: CP3 - 28yo - 93 overall
SG: Kyrie Irving - 21yo - 83 overall
SF: Rashard Lewis - 34yo - 71 overall
PF: Me - 23yo - 81 overall
C: Stacey Eisley - 24yo - 77 overall

Some help here would be much appreciated :o It refers to "My Player" mode.

My team hasn't won a game since this post and yet I'm hardly ever losing my "performance" battle. Even scored 20 points with 8 rebounds in the second last game, with Irving and CP3 scoring 20 points and 6 assists between them and yet we still lost by 3 pts. Then, just lost the last game by 15 pts to bring us to 5-17 for the season :mad::mad:

WTF is going on?!?!

To win on a regular basis you pretty much have to carry your team, if you play large minutes. I only play Create a Legend and at the moment I'm doing it with Durant and to win I pretty much have to score 50+ a game at 45%+. I score about 60%+ of my teams score.

Yeah i've noticed that as well, almost got beaten by the raptors last night until i pulled off 3 blocks, 2 steals and 6 points in the last few minutes... Currently top of the nba for rebounds and blocks, 2nd in team for points per game, broken the franchise record for rebounds in a single game... Rookie of the month = John Wall, best stats of any center, not in all star contention.

But yeah, definitely can't rely on team mates too much it seems, the amount of easy shots they miss is insane. Can't help much more than that from my experience, since trading around somehow the AI made the Wizards even worse, got steamrolled by 40 by Miami with Lebron scoring 46.

2 full seasons, was do happy to be done and get a chance to get a big salary (and trophy)

2 MVP, 2 finals MVP, 2 time nba champ, 2 time all-star, 2 time defensive player, 2 time all-nba first team, rookie of the yr, player at a ranking of 99 (1st overall)....

Team clause invoked

"Oh you #%^*•!&$?"

One thing I have noticed which has seemingly made my team play a bit smoother is that when you are called to set a screen for a play, the screen graphic (looks like this "----I") doesn't actually disappear off the court once you've done the screen, which therefore doesn't trigger the ball carrier to run the next step of the play because he's still waiting for you.

This was dramatically slowing down my teams plays and not allowing anyone on my team to get off a quick shot without pressure, in turn, possibly costing me lots of close matches. The way I've found to get around this is to set the screen ("B" on X-Box) multiple times in a row before the player you are screening for gets to his destination. Doing this actually triggers the next set of on-screen graphics for the next step of the play....it gets my players running around and spreading out a lot more, leading to much quicker and better looks for 2 and 3 pointers.

Only scored 8 points with 4 rebounds and a steal in that game and yet my team won by 6 pts...our 3rd win from 4 matches since last night when I figured this trick/tip out :thumbsu:

Clippers were going nowhere with Griffin and I as the only good players so requested a trade to the Suns who had Lebron and Tyreke Evans and had won the championship the year before. Got traded to the Suns with Blake but Lebron was sent the other way. So me at PG (87 OVR), Tyreke at SG (91 OVR) and Blake at PF (92 OVR)...hopefully can form a lethal big 3

So John Wall has gone down for 4 weeks, feels bad man... Lost 5 straight including 2 to the Pacers and a 20 point loss to Houston, still laughed at the margins while i missed 3 games, lost to bulls by 30, spurs by 48.

Still my aim at making my player into a Abdul-Jabbar wannabe seems to be going well averaging 11.3 ppg, 14.2 rpg, 2apg, .5spg, 2.2bpg. Not too bad considering my offensive and rebound stats aren't great, have maxed out block and vertical but teams seem to avoid shooting anywhere near me :P Still 7'2 league leading center called Max Powers, where's my endorsements! :(

2 and a half seasons in and we've not left the bottom of the conference. I posted my team a page back and there's just no way possible that we should be this bad. I have no problems when it comes to my PF or my direct opponent, well not enough problems to cause the team to lose every game anyway.

So I need advice on my off-ball positioning I guess, both offensively and defensively.

- When to leave my man to help a teammate and contest the shot, and when not to (or should I go halfway between the two?)

- When to jump to contest a shot and when to just raise my arms to contest a shot

- When or if I should call for a pass

- When to use the right stick to cut

- When to stand the low post and when to move to the 3 point line to clear space in the key for my teammates

- What the hell a "loose ball" foul is (I know what an "over the back" foul is)

- What the **** to do when the on-screen play-calling graphics disappear from the screen

- What to do when it just shows that grey circle for where you should stand while the rest of the team is busy running a play

- Whether or not to go for offensive rebounds while the shooter is in the paint for fear of my direct opponent disrupting the shot because I moved to close

I've looked all over Youtube and Google for hints and tips but I can't find anything that's helping, especially for power forwards specifically.

Also, what camera angle works best for you guys in My Player mode?

Ill give some advice, seeing as you are a PF you should be playing in the low post so anything that is going to end up in a dunk/lay-up you should either be contesting/blocking or flat out stopping their path to the basket. (of course don't try to block a layup that is on the otherside of the paint to you as it will let the shooter pass it off to the open man, if he is a good passer, think Rondo, Nash. They will absolutely tear you a new one).

You shouldn't really leave your man at all unless you are going up to contest/block a shot. Also think about who you are guarding, guys like Dirk, Love who can shoot the 3 you shouldn't leave open but guys like Griffin who can't shoot midrange you can sag off if they get out of the post. (I'm pretty happy to let Griffin shoot open from 15ft+)

I don't really call for passes, I just try to run the plays the PG set, unless of course during that time you get a mismatch such as you with a guard. So just backdown on him and call for a pass and do a postmove on him, should score 80% of the time.

If a teammate is backing down in the post (opposite side of the paint) you should move out to make sure your opponent doesn't contest the shot, do this especially if you can shoot the 3 or atleast midrange. If a teammate is set a screen on the arc, look to move out of the post to either drag your opponent away or to get yourself open for a jumper.

I haven't been able to work out how 2k12 gives Loose ball fouls.

If the screen disappears, either set it again for the handler or try to get into a position which is good for you and allows him to pass it to you and call for a pass, so you can isolate your opponent or back down.

You should just stand where it says, though say you aren't good at 3's try to move in a bit to midrange without letting your opponent get to close to disrupt anything in the paint.

If the shooter is in the paint, you should be contesting the shot first and foremost. And I always go for the rebound unless it is a midrange+ shot where I box out.

A few other things:

-- Spend the first quarter concentrating on defence and shutting your man down. If he gets hot, he'll stay hot during the game. If you keep him quiet in the first quarter, there's every chance he'll stay quiet all game. This has the added benefit of getting the opposition into a full-court press earlier. If you're feeling cheesy, the full court press is so easy to exploit for easy points.

-- On that point, if you're playing a star, you need to respect them. If I'm playing against Rose, CP3 or Williams, I'll think about running the fast break second and focus on stopping them. Against those guys I won't even try and steal it out of their hands and I won't try as many crossovers as they will rip it from you. If I'm on Rondo, Wall, Nash, Rubio (poor guy, 2k12 stiffed him) etc I'll just abuse the shit out of them and drop 40+ on them.

-- Understand the game. Not basketball. But 2k12. I've hardly ever played a game where so much of it is understanding how to "game" it. For instance, early in the third, if we have a big lead and if I miss a couple of shots and my team misses a shot they normally get I'll know the AI is rubber-banding and that the comeback is on. Slow it down, call a timeout, get a really good look before shooting.

-- Timeouts: as annoying as it is to stop the game, timeouts are necessary. If you get a ten point lead and they score twice without you scoring, call a timeout. If they have a run-on, call a timeout. Momentum is huge in 2k12.

I play as a PG and I pretty much play like CP3. I know I can get my shot anytime, anywhere, so I focus on making sure my team is hot. My offence runs through Kaman and Griffin and if they're hot, I just keep giving it to them. Like I said, momentum is everything in this game.

-- If there is no on court play set, go up to the PG and set a screen and then pop or roll to the basket.

-- I never raise my arms to contest a shot, always try and block it, unless it's that ****ed up up and under move, then I just try and defend and hope someone blocks it.

Main advice though: quit on your PF and go and make a PG. It's much more fun, you control the ball, it's much easier to get good at quickly (you can be a 3pt sniper pretty much from game 1) and you'll get more understanding out of the game and then you can go and be a center or whatever.

I made a center but they're just so boring, all you do is set screens and contest rebounds and block shots. Maybe, put up your own shot occasionally.

Thanks to both of you guys, much appreciated. Some really promising hints that I hope will get my Cavs back on the winner's list :thumbsu:

Just on the above quote though, I actually think that that's my main draw to any sports game's "My Player" mode. I like that I can just play a role within a team and not necessarily have to be involved in every bit of action if I don't want to. I also love being a defender on both Fifa and NHL, which aren't exactly play making positions either.

Thanks again guys, and any other tips at all along the same lines as you've both provided would be great.

3rd season got traded to Indy. Decided to shoot 50 shots a game. Then later in the season i fouled out as quick as i could. Indy were bottom. Signed with Portland in the offseason for 38mil over 3 years with player option.

Anyone else had the season leader stats screw up after missing games with injury? Had to simulate games while injured and i disappeared off all the leaderboards, slightly annoying to know i'm topping rebounds and blocks but it doesn't show me at all on the list and i get to stare at Howard topping instead :(

Currently a 82 overall PG in my 3rd season currently playing at Memphis. I started by getting picked by Philly, but didn't really want to be there got traded about 3 times where I finally ended up at the Memphis and I'm loving it. I am having trouble picking up assists though, but I'm easily scoring atleast 25-30 points a game. Any tips on picking up a lot of assists? I have tried calling an isolation and driving and waiting for a player to slide off their opponent over to me then giving off the easy shot, but they never take the shot. Also I'm often getting drilled when trying to drive the lane it will work half the time but the other 50% I'm usually getting burned when trying to crossover or blocked when going for the layup.

Finally finished my 82 game, 8 minute quarter season.

Finished 6th, copped Bulls in playoffs, beat them 4-2. Then lost 4-3 to Celtics to end the season.

Picked up Felton to make my starting five:

Felton
JR Smith
Melo
Amare
Chandler

I have very little depth but a great starting 5. Got offered pick 1 and Maggette for Melo and nearly accepted, decided against it last minute. Didn't help that it was my first draft and I had no idea what a pick was worth. Probably should have done it in the end because my lack of defence (team, not me personally) is what cost me against Boston.

Well, after playing to my near best and failing to get over Boston in the Conf semis I bit the bullet and made some big trades:

Out: Melo + Walker (?)
In: Iguodala + Holiday

Out: Amare
In: Nowitzki

Also made some other small trades/changes, so my only remaining players on the entire roster from last season are Chandler, Frye, Brockman and JR Smith.

Starting 5 is now:

Holiday
Iguodala
Mbah a Moute
Nowitzki
Chandler

with these as my main role players:

Turkoglu
Frye
JR Smith
Kidd

After starting the season 0-3 with losses to the Nets (with Melo), Bulls and Thunder (these 2 without Melo but still with Amare) I came up against the Grizzlies for my first game with Dirk and Turkoglu.

Dirk hit 42, Igudoala 24, Holiday had 7 assists and Mbah a Moute 8 rebounds + 5 assists as I won 96-89 (After leading 90-70 and benching all my starters).

Feels good for it to have paid off :D

I made a center but they're just so boring, all you do is set screens and contest rebounds and block shots. Maybe, put up your own shot occasionally.

I have a C/PF and actually find the opposite. Find it to be the most fun if you can find space or even just back down against a smaller opponent and slam it in. Even then love taking a rebound then popping it in, last night scored 14 points straight that way but still lost by 2 points :( The only position i can't get into is playing PG just can't do it well at all, not sure if it's just way harder or if it's because it's the only position I never actually played.

As for the my player, almost got my rebounds per game to an average of 20, hopefully should get rookie of the year and just keeping the wizards in the last spot for the playoffs race.

Haven't played at SF yet, PF can be successful if you get in a heap of blocks / offensive rebounds, handy if you outsize the opponent too which well at 7'3 i tend to. Do most of my non 2nd chance scoring when subbed at PF actually. But playing at C is the best imo, when i actually get full games at C i tend to get 35+ rebounds, fair share of blocks and completely shut down their offense. I mean in my current season I have the Wizards sitting at the no.2 team for points allowed behind the Bulls, no.1 team for rebounds, no.1 team for blocks... If we could sign a gun SG we would probably be a lot higher in the conference, just can't put any big scores up on the board bar thrashing Cleveland and New Orleans by 20+

Lame, sprained ankle 2-4 weeks and we lost to the magic by 55 points...

Decided to give Association a crack, took Oklahoma City Thunder, traded in Marc Gasol, first season just missed playoffs, second season topped conference and got knocked out in first round, third season win 58 games, Durant MVP, Durant, Westbrook and Harden into All star game, Durant and Westbrook made nba 1st team, Durant made defensive 1st team and won the playoffs in a clean sweep.

Might try it with a harder team another time...

I'm just about to start a new team, not sure who yet.

Any advice on a team thats fun to play with? I like to have younger players where possible and guys with good potential as i like to load up through the draft.

With my previous team i done a fantasy draft and then traded etc quite a bit and uploaded two draft classes, at present my roster is.

PG - CP3, Kendall Marshall
SG - Brooks, Shabazz Muhammed
SF - LeBron, Midd-Gilchrist
PF - Anthony Davis, Moultrie
C - Drummond, Nerlens Noel

Hows that for a cracking line-up that i have pretty much established from knowhere, only guys from my original roster are Brooks and LeBron. The rest either aren't even in the league yet or CP3 i got in FA.
I have a tendency when i fantasy draft to recruit guys with lower salaries so i can then have some flexibility with my roster in FA and trading.

Indiana Pacers became the NBA Champions thanks to my PG in My Player. Also was the MVP in the finals :thumbsu:, funny thing is that i had a battle on my hands against Miami to clinch the finals position (ahead 3 - 0, but they won the next 2, before i finished the series with the win). Had to go up against Oklahoma City Thunder........ turned out to be a bashing Geelong - Port Adelaide 2007 style. Won each game by 20 points or more (Game 3 was won by 42).

Starting year 3, aiming to double up before deciding to either be traded to a new team, concentrating on Association mode...... or shelve the game and wait for 2K13.

Rebuilding the Suns is fun.

Decided to keep Nash and make one last title run before rebuilding.

PG: Steve Nash, Ronnie Price
SG: Shannon Brown, Michael Redd
SF: Rudy Gay, Jarred Dudley
PF: Brandon Bass, Lamar Odom, Markieff Morris
C: Marcus Camby, Robin Lopez, Channing Fry

Managed to snag Rudy Gay for Marchin Gortat, a scrub and some picks, quite happy with that. This is a really fun team to play with. Thinking I might release someone to make room, so I can sign Greg Oden off the FA.

Do you guys play every game or just Key Games

i only play Key Games. Also CP3 always seems to go to Charlotte for some reason

I played the whole first season with 9 minute quarters, just to build up skill points (and learn the game as I went). The second season I'm just playing key games, and the simulation is good enough to not make me regret it too much.

I have plays turned off as well - it gives so much more freedom. Otherwise it feels quite formulaic and tedious. It'd be a lot better if my side (Knicks) didn't turn over all the other starters every season...

Into my 2nd season of association mode, but with 2 different teams.

Last season, managed the LA Clippers, got to the Western Conference finals, lost 4-3 to the LA Lakers. The Miami Heat ended up winning the Championship.

2nd season, jumped ship to the LA Lakers, got Vince Carter for only a 2nd round pick, he's done well. Got rid of World Peace, useless and also Steve Blake and my other 2nd round for Steve Nash.

Went 21-8 during the regular season, finished 1st in the West.

Am now up against the Rockets in the 1st round of the play-offs, up 2-0 on the back of 40 and 37 points from Kobe Bryant, he's a star.

After this season is finished, will move on again, not sure on what team though, i have the Spurs, Knicks, Bulls, Suns and Bucks in mind.
