He's a premiership coach. It's gone south but I suspect other clubs will want him. He must have an inkling that if the board turn on him (every chance) and he sticks his contract, he'll be washed up along with his job offers. What if Norf offer him a job?
I don't think Simmo is the type to walk away from a contract.
If he's pushed, then that's a different scenerio.

Caro's pretty well connected isn't she? I'd say she knows
Well she knows f'all about footy and is the footy editor at the Age which means she has the biggest contact list and breaks the biggest stories. I hope there's some more legs to that specific line of inquiry because I want to know what has happened there and why some players are overweight.

I'm pretty sure Greg Baum is the editor.

I'd be even more depressed with how this season has progressed if I knew there was no investigation happening.

Way overdue.

Also, a disconnect between players is blindingly obvious. And I doubt it's just between senior players on one hand and the kids on the other, the boys are literally arguing with each other on the field in front of 60k, 50k, 40k, 30-something thousand spectators every week. We all saw Yeo and Gov (last year?), then vs Richmond a couple of weeks ago Shuey and Clubber Nelson spent the entire period between a Richmond goal being scored and the next bounce in an "animated discussion" with a lot of arm waving and pointing.

I find it pretty amazing at the Footy Journo community find out this information/publish this type of news when the Eagles are down each and every time, that being said I don't really care about these young players actions what do you want them to do? 2 years of covid shit(lock downs etc) a 3rd year of covid destroying the team... No surprise young players want to go enjoy their lives because everywhere else enjoyment levels have been pretty damn average.

I'm not saying the players should do this all the time and make a thing of it but come on let them live their lives, the year is a write off so are the next 3 years.

These guys are heroes. There's even a famous movie about them.

Couldn't agree more. Nisbett is now saying they broke no rules but it was a betrayal of trust???? What? They are young men who have been in lock down for a couple of years. But for the media and a couple of comments of frustration from Simpson it would have been an in house talk about avoiding anything that could exacerbate the covid situation but now it is treated as a major crime. Even Pav is backing them. I know WA has been copping the McGowan propaganda for years and that makes people a bit paranoid but this has been blown out of all proportion and you wonder why players get disillusioned.

I'd say Nessy shit the bed and just did this for optics nothing else.

These guys are vaxx'd restricted eased and they get in trouble for being in public? damned if you don't damned if you do, the actions by the club/news reporters are going to make the mental of these guys worse.

My brother had this book when we were kids. Time for a sequel?

I have no love for Caroline Wilson, but she has absolutely got this part right (per foxsports):

“We just keep hearing that there is a disconnect, between players and coach, between senior players and younger players — the club denies it... but there is an investigation going on to not only their list management but also their strength and conditioning,” Wilson said

The Review started last year and is probably still ongoing..

She's claiming there is an investigation?

Is this true, or has Caro been reading BF and made it up?
Caro is clever with her words and generally only ever says things that are obvious but delivers them in such a way that it sounds like a scoop.

I doubt she ever has sources.

Of course this is a disconnect.. 7 went clubbing against club rules (I disagree with the rule but it was a rule).

Of course it's being investigated.
We've had heaps of injuries. Of course it's being investigated.

None of it is particularly ground breaking.

Yes, she knows Melbourne.

Years of reading her stuff in The Age a couple of days before it broke anywhere else tells me this - but I'm not sure she has the reach into WA. Suspect there are local people who have a better handle on what's going on in Perth. The footy world in Perth seems to be as incestuous as every other industry over there.

But on the Real Footy pod this morning there was discussion about how just being out and about in a town you run into people and pick up stuff. I'm sure in this case she's right (I HOPE she's right), but I doubt she's the first journo to say it, just the first one to be heard about it.
