While sitting at the game on Saturday night I saw one of the best things I have ever seen from a Fremantle player. I believe it was in the 3rd quarter and Sandilands picked up the ball on the members wing. Instead of trying to dodge the oncoming saints player he saw him coming and ran straight through him. For myself it was the best thing I have seen from a Freo players in years.

Sandi is going to be better than any of us could have ever hoped :thumbsu:

Haha I couldn't help applauding that one too CK.
The late, great Gary Dhurkay did a similar thing back in the Dockers early days. Can't remember the game or his opponent (help anyone) but I clearly remember him running at a player full steam with the ball in hand. The tackling player was waiting for a side-step, but Gary had other ideas. It was like the part in the Roadrunner cartoons where the coyote steps into the middle of the road only to be run over and left on his back covered in footprints and a cloud of dust. Absolute classic!

...Not speaking ill of Dhurkay, but great is a great exageration, unless he had some other things going on in his life apart from AFL. Like quite a few players of that period, they showed more promise than substance.

True Gav.
I didn't mean great in a football career sense, but from my few encounters with Gary he did strike me as a great natured bloke.

Forget which quarter it was in, big Sandi took a mark on one of the flanks... what was unusual was that he charged in front of another Dockers player who was standing still waiting for the mark. Good to see his confidence increasing a lot!

Too true Roundy, Gary was a great bloke, I worked with him in the NT for a while and his heart was with his people and to promote the game amongst the young fellas.

Tragic loss.
