Judging from a radio interview this morning sounds like their major issue is with the second oval taking up Kings Reserve. Can smell a potential backflip on us getting that knowing our luck.

Looks like the usuals who will complain about anything and everything.

The guy who is leading the campaign used this as one of his main arguments, that if they go with our plan they won't get the previous SANFL plan which had so much "more than just another football oval" on Kings Reserve.

I guess our plan didn't have enough arrows...

Because they want something just like the Alberton hotel. If that's what floats your boat, go there.
You totally misunderstood what I meant obviously.

It's like my team playing a slow boring defensive grind it out game plan and I say, man I wish we were more attacking, had some x factor players, played with some real guts, like the hornets... And you reply with "well go ****ing support the hornets". It's such a dumb response.

**** all of these people, be happy your about to get elite turf and a cafe, all those bike riding toffs and dog walkers will be perfectly fine.

Entitled pricks, Id give anything to have the club build a facility walking distance from me.

Most of them probably have never even stepped foot on Kings Reserve

He makes a pointed argument.

I'm a bit anxious as to how close they've decided to do this to local government elections.

The period 12 months before and 6 months after local government elections is renowned for the most ****ed up of NIMBY decision making by local government with nothing other than a short term perspective on perceived political fortune.

Interesting developments for Thebarton.

Apparently 300 people attended last night and the club wasn't invited to speak.

Sticking points appear to be Kings Reserve and the public use of the ovals.

What an absolute shit show this is turning out to be, hopefully there will be zero compromises especially as the club sold Thebarton to the supporters on the basis of it giving the club 2 ovals.

It's going to be a joke if we now back flip and scale back our proposal.

A few loud mouths the media like to report on should change nothing. The whole place was built for sport before any of those residents came along. Up until the late 90’s Kings Reserve was not available to the public on most summer weekends because cricket was played on both ovals until the cricket club moved to Henley. There will be plenty of “green space” and the upgrade of the area along with the planned upgrades of the linear trail along the nearby river will be great for the 99% of residents who don’t visit Kings Reserve to go Koala watching.

Apparently the residents are calling for a referendum on our proposal.

I am an old West Torrens supporter and went to Thebarton Oval and can still remember games when I was about 8 (1969) - it held some good and woeful memories.

Does anyone remember what Kings Reserve was before in the 1960’s/1970’s as to what it has became today? A ****ing car park.

Tell these knobs to **** off.

There would probably be a similar turnout of anti residents in any area the big bad Adelaide Football Corporation tries to build.

Those that genuinely don't like the proposal, those that will complain about anything, those that are personally offended that they weren't personally consulted and want to feel important.

Always the same arts supporting theatre goers. I wasn't buying the guy worried about where his kids in their shiny new Geelong jumpers would kick the ball after work, but if he was legit, how about on one of the two AFL standard grounds that will likely be available at the time.

We used to kick the ball around on Max Basheer a bit, it was usually pretty empty, maybe just the time of day, but the community will have plenty of access.

As above, Thebarton was sold to members as being the best option as it had everything we'd want.

The second oval was a compromise at better locations.

Give them nothing.

It was also a car park for our AFLW matches too, and that was 2017!

I am quite sure that we could accommodate a skate park, playground, cricket nets and picnic ground without changing much or anything.
Sporting fields, Football kicking area Oval for public access, sporting precinct, access road and park would be provided anyway.
So they will lose a few trees and that's it.
