What's with the Crows and drafting pretty boys?

We've seen how Vince has gone at the Crows, and now I fear Mackay will be down in hard ball gets due to the risk of his hair getting messed up.

Gill's attitude is also impressive he could do very well given the right circumstances. Does anyone have a run down on his stats, as in goals kicked, and did he play the majority of games for North along the full forward line? Is his kicking really that bad?

Yeh would also be nice to hear from Sellar and Campbell.
Campbell just interviewed on FiveAA.

Still just shocked at being drafted, and extremely thrilled. Was given jumper number 31, next to the Roo! ;) Also said that there is a tremendous amount of respect for Neil Craig and he can’t believe the leadership qualities of the young guys; he singled out van Berlo. ;) :thumbsu:

Future captain, already a god. What more do you want. :p :thumbsu:

Mckay has been overshadowed by the selections of Sellar and Tippett but he could prove to be a very very good selection.

The only thing I'll say that concerns me a "little" is that there are many similarities between Vince, Douglas, Van Berlo and Mackay.

One of our midfield strengths has been the diversity (height, build, playing style) of our players ....midfield not working in a game we could change the mix and dynamics by changing personnel. Having too many of the same "type" COULD be a negative ....as I said just a little comment.

WW - we have Thompson, Reilly, Knights, Porplyzia as the bigger bodies and the possiblity of Johncock moving in there.

Gill has kicked 86 goals in his 38 games for North. He plays mainly on the half-forward line but he has a big engine and generally roams over the entire attacking half of the field. He was also used as a ruck-rover for a few games this year.

He doesn't have the best kicking technique and can be inaccurate, he often kicks a goal or doesn't score at all. He is a very long kick though.

This is a very good point although as NikkiNoo points out there are some different shapes amoungst the other younglings that can come into the middle.

I'm more interested to hear if we've added anything in the pace dept. with these 2 ?

Any speed machines in the Rookie draft worth looking at?
Gavin Hughes. 20 year old from Norwood. 20 league games under his belt and ran the 100m in 10.78 from memory.

Good ball winner, averaged about 22 possessions per game this year and has good foot skills to go with his pace. Is a wingman but played forward in a game late in the year and kicked 4 goals.

Aye - good call! Seen a little of Hughes. Wouldn't mind it if we gave him a chance.

McKay I think is quite quick .....

As I was saying it was just a "little" concerning as I had seen hawthorn a few seasons back go down that track and found they couldn't change their midfield dynamics during a game.

The AFC have always had big bodied midfielders ....I have always liked that about our sides :thumbsu:

very true - we've bullied a number of sides that way....:thumbsu:
