If that's the case, I wonder why do Sydney and Gold Coast only need clash jumpers against a handful of teams. The AFL wont allow Essendon to swap colours as red is 'dark'

Case in point. If that's the case, I wonder why do Sydney and Gold Coast only need clash jumpers against a handful of teams.

Not probably. It just is.Yeah, I doubt that's a thing anymore.
The grey heritage is probably a way to stick to the red sash on black constitution garbage.
Because of the combination of each teams colours. Essendon is a dark red because it sits with Black. Sydney and GC's red seems light because they are paired with White and bright Yellow respectively. If that's the case, I wonder why do Sydney and Gold Coast only need clash jumpers against a handful of teams.
Except for the part where the constitution specifies that it also has to fall within the specifications of the competition in which it is being worn. So if they joined the SANFL who said "you must wear a pink guernsey" they'd either have to wear a pink guernsey or not play.Yeah, I doubt that's a thing anymore.

It is a clever way of not creating a "clash strip". Really they have one, they're just calling it something else and they can because of a small addition (names) but if it walks, swims and quacks like a duck, then we can fill in the blanks.i guess what i am saying is i have kind of assumed for the last few years that essendon saying their silver jumper is a heritage strip is a kinda clever way of not 'bowing down' and having an outright clash jumper, like to appease their fans who want them wearing black and red. i was just surprised it's happening again in 2015 and wondered how much longer they'll pump out heritage jumpers, they should be special not every season i feel.
A black polo paired with a brown belt & indigo jeans?
