Does anyone dread New Years? I find it a tacky night and if you aren't close enough to walk home, chances are that coupled with a high entry fee, it's an expensive night with the increased taxi fare.

You could always get your mum to pick you up.

People hate News Years eve are the same people that hate christmas.
Genuinely negative people searching for attention.
Its a huge night where everyone is in a good mood, how could you possibly not enjoy it?

Its just another night out drinking with friends to me... you cant put too much stock into it... if you do it just ends up being a dud night anyway..... thats why i didnt go out and buy a $270 ticket to some fancy dress 007 party on the observation deck or whatever the hells going on this year.... low key at your favorite pub/club is the best way to go. At least you know you're going to like the venue and the crowd.

I'm dreading it. It's not a public holiday, so even though I bring in the new year right as I finish my shift, I don't get penalty rates for working the last 4 hours of the year.

Some of the prices are excessive.

I have the choice of going to the Portsea Pub, which costs $80 for entry. You get no alcohol so add another $100 on that on drinks and umm.... other substances and it's an expensive night.

Went to the Riva Bar last year and it cost $100 plus for entry, which included alcohol.

I know a mate who is paying $175 for entry to a function and this includes no alcohol.

Did it ever occur to u that some people just don't have the luxury of a nice place to go? Likewise with Christmas it can be a very depressing time for some there r those who don't see eye to eye with their family and those with financial troubles it's not always la di da for everyone!

* Because there are inebriated sleaze bags out everywhere offending all and sundry.

* Because you have to sell yourself to get a cab

* Because its over-rated and over-priced

* Because its difficult to ensure a fantastic evening or mood just because its an occasion.

* Because some people have more fun on NORMAL nights out.

Heh. Yeah. "Its New Years Eve so i better find a shag".... puhlease. Its like if you're single saying, "Oh its my birthday i gotta get some"... it never works that way, and why would you want it like that anyway!!

That's why I find it tacky. I agree that the majority are guys that do the sleaze bagging but it also goes on with the chicks.

I think we had 8 guys in our group last year. Everyone of us picked up and although it's good for us, I doubt that would have happend in any other night (that all picked up).

Why not view the cup as half full opposed to half empty?
I mean your my age spidey your a 19 yo girl almost at the peak physically and you have your entire life ahead of you, why waste what limited time you have feeling down?

Bas Luhrmann summed it up best when he said "Worry is as effective as solving a algebra equation chewing bubble gum"
