you said "LEIGH TUDOR is a front runner in my book if we want a PW type of coach"

your stating he is a front runner because he is more than a Phil Walsh type, I'm curious in why you think he is more a Phil Walsh type to mmake him a front runner in front of the likes of Pyke?

A bloke as professional as Fagan is not going to appoint someone cause they are a PW type of coach.
Unfortunately PW is gone and the club will move on.

So Worsfold doesn't want the gig.. hed rather go coach a rabble and basket case at Essendon. Campo isn't keen.. so hmm who does that leave? Pyke and Burns? So the players will have to learn a new style yet again.. SIGH

I totally agree

IMO the club will probably want to maintain two key pillars

1. the elite standards and team first value
2. the team play a game style that not only stands up in finals but is also entertaining to watch

However with this the club will want a new coach to clearly demostrate through the interview process how they will deliver on these two pillars there way, not the PW way

Ok apologies to how I made it sound

IMO Tudor will have a harder edge over pyke...

Unless I'm mistaken Burns missed the gig to Sando because he was negative on our list whereas Sando talked it up, if that is in fact true it's a tick in my book for Burns as he was bloody well right. He seems like a tough bugger but haven't heard much chat about his tactical nous, anyone got any colour ?

From a culture and personality point if view Burns would be perfect. Spent plenty of time working with Walshy as well.

The question about football strategy is a good one.

I can't see it being Burns

it's a bit of a Bigfooty myth that Burns missed the role because of his honest list appraisal, he actually really bombed the interview on all components and the interview

IMO it is highly unlikely Burns will get a Senior Role

Ok good info, lets consider that myth busted !

he did not perform well under pressure, he really struggled when the committee in particular Leigh Mathews started challenging him on game plan
By his own admission he was completely under prepared. He was coaching a team still playing AFL finals at the time. Not sure it will become the defining moment of his coaching career.

it may have been the case however these processes are designed to put you under pressure, lets not forget that Bolton and Dew were also participating in finals and had to prepare for the AFC process, this in itself shines the light on your planning skills

Also interesting that Burns has missed a couple of roles after the AFC application

I think he is at risk of being branded as a bloody good assistant but not a senior coach

He wasnt that keen on the job and got talked into doing it for experience if you want the truth.

I went to a NM training session with a friend earlier in the year

Has a hard line approach to the players from what I have seen

ok, I think if you go to most clubs training sessions you will see the Assistants drill hard

mate you may be right

I was just pointing out to folks on this thread that it is BS that Burns missed the AFC job because of an honest list appraisal

I am not sure why everyone is dismissing Stuart Dew. Wasn't there talk of Walshy wanting Dew to be part of the coaching team this year? Also he seems to be doing well in his Level 4 Coaching course if this article is to be believed.

this might come across real harsh

however whether it's Dew or someone else can a Coach in Dew's physical shape push Elite Training Standards?
