Plenty of time yet but it is gonna be tough for him. He is also English so may choose to go down that path to play cricket all year round.

Again, I don't see that. He's relatively young, has a good temperament and is scoring runs. If he has a good season this year there's no reason he can't go on to play test cricket

Will he even get a look in though. It is very clear to me that if you aren't in the system early you can rarely break into it. He has a good technique but isn't scoring a mountain of runs so he will need to really load up to get a look in IMO.

We can only hope. Grassroots is in a very bad way. I currently umpire cricket in QLD and the lack of 13-19 year olds playing in the competition is sad.

Admittedly I am mid 30s now but the couple times a season I bowl 25+ I am ****ed at work until at least Tuesday.

60 overs in a weekend seems nuts. I think the CA guidelines for juniors is along the lines of 30 balls up to 3 times a week - that's 15 overs in a week - and a rest/light week every 4th week.

The Vic boys would know more, but what is the deal with Dixon? Thought he would be a cert after his U/19 efforts, for some SS exposure. Looking forward to seeing Peake come through as well.

Vic seem to have a supply of youngish quicks(bar Sid)in O'Neill, Perry, Crone, Elliott etc, plus some decent young bats coming through in Kellaway, Peake, Rogers, Kellaway, Dixon etc...providing the state with a squad capable of emulating the feats of thar Vic side a few years back and WA of recent.

Ollie Peake WILL play test cricket for Australia.. Haven't seen this sort of excitement about a prodigy since Puck and before that Clarke

Eh. I'm just saying what the guidelines are. It seems a bit light on to me but maybe they are meaning 30 maximal effort balls from a kid in an elite pathway who is concentrating or something. All the kids I see either slow down, start bowling spin, goof around or go and sit down after around 3 or 4 overs anyway [emoji23]

And despite what you say, there is actual science that says that heavy bowling loads on developing bodies is worse for injuries than lighter loads.

He seems to get to 20-30 relatively easily then gift his wicket away with a silly over-aggressive shot.

One thing I've noticed being involved in my son's junior cricket is that it still seems to be very much a "two culture sport". The kids are almost all either White Anglos or of Subcontinental background.

I don't know if there just hasn't been enough reaching out to kids of other backgrounds, or they're simply not that interested in cricket.

But it's going to be a bit of a restriction on the talent pool coming through if only a few different types of people are interested in the game.

It's partly both but definitely technique. He is no chance at test level with his technique.

In white ball most definitely. Only player to ever hit a Aussie U19 nationals double hundred. Have not seen much BBL, does he play? I see him as perhaps another Chris Lynn, blasting white ball 50s, 100s for fun one minute, then a reckless hoik the next for a duck.

He swings like a rusty gate and cannot keep good balls out or construct an innings. He's an exact example of why IPL money is bad.
