No - not if he can play and has a techniqueHe's made some good runs but at 26 its late to be getting a shield gig then turning that into a successful test career.

In bold those I see having a Test career.Prime Minister's XI squad: Jack Edwards (c), Charlie Anderson, Mahli Beardman, Scott Boland, Jack Clayton, Aidan O'Connor, Ollie Davies, Jayden Goodwin, Sam Harper, Hanno Jacobs, Sam Konstas, Lloyd Pope, Matthew Renshaw, Jem Ryan?
Again, I don't see that. He's relatively young, has a good temperament and is scoring runs. If he has a good season this year there's no reason he can't go on to play test cricketPlenty of time yet but it is gonna be tough for him. He is also English so may choose to go down that path to play cricket all year round.
Will he even get a look in though. It is very clear to me that if you aren't in the system early you can rarely break into it. He has a good technique but isn't scoring a mountain of runs so he will need to really load up to get a look in IMO.No - not if he can play and has a technique

Late bloomer. I too like Lovell. Is 25 actually. He's made some good runs but at 26 its late to be getting a shield gig then turning that into a successful test career.
The system is rooted and hopefully soon it turns back to sanity and common sense instead of group think in an echo chamberWill he even get a look in though. Averaged 67 in the shield last year, career average 43. Given the lack of Australian players averaging 40+, stats alone give him a chance.Ollie Davies. Rofl 100 times.
We can only hope. Grassroots is in a very bad way. I currently umpire cricket in QLD and the lack of 13-19 year olds playing in the competition is sad.The system is rooted and hopefully soon it turns back to sanity and common sense instead of group think in an echo chamber
Can understand it bowling 60 in a weekend.![]()
'Sixty overs in a weekend': The parent trap causing burnout in cricket's generation next
Australian cricket is booming at junior levels but as the sport attracts a more diverse and higher player base, the pressure on some of these kids is becoming too much and burnout looms.www.abc.net.au
Can understand it bowling 60 in a weekend.
That's a lot of bowling for anyone.
Admittedly I am mid 30s now but the couple times a season I bowl 25+ I am ****ed at work until at least Tuesday.
Seriously? A rest week every 4th?60 overs in a weekend seems nuts. I think the CA guidelines for juniors is along the lines of 30 balls up to 3 times a week - that's 15 overs in a week - and a rest/light week every 4th week.
Ollie Peake WILL play test cricket for Australia.. Haven't seen this sort of excitement about a prodigy since Puck and before that ClarkeThe Vic boys would know more, but what is the deal with Dixon? Thought he would be a cert after his U/19 efforts, for some SS exposure. Looking forward to seeing Peake come through as well.
Vic seem to have a supply of youngish quicks(bar Sid)in O'Neill, Perry, Crone, Elliott etc, plus some decent young bats coming through in Kellaway, Peake, Rogers, Kellaway, Dixon etc...providing the state with a squad capable of emulating the feats of thar Vic side a few years back and WA of recent.
No, a rest week every 10-12 weeks, but a lighter week every 4 weeks.Seriously? A rest week every 4th?
This nonsense is why we have had a generation of fast bowlers prone to injury in their early adult years.
No, a rest week every 10-12 weeks, but a lighter week every 4 weeks.
And despite what you say, there is actual science that says that heavy bowling loads on developing bodies is worse for injuries than lighter loads.
Here's the link to the guidelines, knock yourself out: https://play.cricket.com.au/community/clubs/managing-your-club/youth-pace-bowling-guidelines
I googled cricket bowlers junior guidelines and it was the first result.Appreciate you being substantially less lazy than I!

I'm not sure if it's technique or temperament.Ollie is possibly the only person I have seen in shield to have almost as bad a technique as Fraser mcgurk.

He seems to get to 20-30 relatively easily then gift his wicket away with a silly over-aggressive shot.
In white ball most definitely. Only player to ever hit a Aussie U19 nationals double hundred. Have not seen much BBL, does he play? I see him as perhaps another Chris Lynn, blasting white ball 50s, 100s for fun one minute, then a reckless hoik the next for a duck.Averaged 67 in the shield last year, career average 43. Is JFM's technique bad? To me it seems alright to good, he just lacks any sort of desire to bat longer than 4 overs.
