NFNL Div 2 discussion 2023

A proven, ready to go division 1 ex-captain, multiple team of the year, Div 1 coaches MVP, NFNL representative, or a young kid who will play majority in the VFL and will be rarely seen at NFNL level.

Tough choice.
Thats Bongetti from a long time ago to be fair. Your not getting that player anymore. Yes he will will go very well in Division 2. But you are probably only getting him as a player for 1 year. Hopefully they win it.

Epping are looking like signing a few I wonder how well they play haven’t heard of a couple but hollows and Clayton are good pick ups though they should be a strong competitive side.
Hopefully they don’t go the down the wrong track and end up how they did the last few years.

Maybe there big singing a are yet to come there has been no announcement of Hollows and Clayton, if they can can get young gun Damon Hollows that would be a good get

Sounds like you are a Hollows yourself

There losing margin last year on average was probably 70+ points.. and that’s being nice.

South morang came up and look like they’ll beat them by 10 goals. Good on them for trying to get numbers but they will be lucky to win one

Epping wont win a game. A few players from low grades in the EDFL isnt going to solve anything.

They will be better off once they go down to Div 3 in 9 months time.
Epping are terrible. In the seniors they've only won 4 games in 2 seasons this decade

Hyperbole at it's finest, there has been 25 games "this decade".
Regular Punter thought I would check some stats on Epping since they went back into Division 2.
Since 2018 here is there record
Seniors
2022 2-16 35.60%
2021 2-10 54.66%
2019 1-15 43.96%
2018 6-12 87.86%
Overall 11-53 which is a 17% win loss record.
Reserves
2022 2-16 24.00%
2021 2-10 26.90%
2019 0-16 9.87%
2018 3-15 65.65%
Overall record 7-57 which is 11% win-loss record.

So between seniors and reserves overall record is 18 wins and 110 losses, and this is pre and post COVID.

I am not sure the decision to jump from Division 3 and up into division 2 has been a success.

With the competitiveness of division 2 in 2022 I see a similar record continuing and then a drop back to Division 3 in 2024

Garbage. Not spoken to about what? Why would they be unhappy?
Lots of reasons why a reserves coach would walk. Family, work, other commitments or simply just doesn't want to do it. Not really a big deal.
They've been training for a couple of weeks now, I'm sure the players know what's going on.

From there page it looks a lot of players have resigned, plus recruiting not to bad.
Looks like things have ramped up now at South, quality signings now coming through thick and fast. Hearing a former player being offered heaps to return from Whittlesea? Cheque book is out for sure, hopefully they have learnt from history and do not make the same errors that returned them to Div 3. I heard it is the same group running the show that put them in trouble last time?

I am hearing that there are a number of clubs looking to get an under 19 side together this year which is fantastic
Keep in mind though the NFNL is the only competition where under 16 & under 17 boys can only play 4 games in the 19's - Any more and they are banned from playing games with their junior team
I have a feeling that there will be a lot of teams (Juniors and under 19's) forfeiting the last 6 games of the season - Congratulations NFNL, keeping young people in football - HOPELESS
that is totaly wrong . juniors can play as many games as the wont in the 19s cause they are different comps .

2022 Rule:
I. All players in the under-9 to under-18 football age groups (inclusive) may play out of their registered age group/grade. However:
a. No junior player may play more than two years above his/her age group as decreed in By-Law 4.1.3, regardless of whether or not competitions are available in those junior age groups.
b. Where a club fields more than one team in the same competitive age group up to under-18, a player is permitted to move between teams during the home and away matches, but once they have played five (5) matches in the higher graded competition team they may not move to the lower graded team for the remainder of the season.
c. Permits are required for movement between teams in the same grade to be lodged as per Schedule 19.
d. Refer to finals eligibility for clarification of movement between age groups/grades and teams for finals participation.
Change for Season 2023:
b. Once a Junior player plays 5 or more home and away matches of senior football (Under-19, Reserves, Seniors) they are ineligible to play again in any junior competition matches, including finals.
c. Once a Junior player has played 5 or more home and away matches in a higher age group they are ineligible to play in a lower age group for the remainder of the season, including finals.
d. Once a Junior player has played 5 or more home and away matches in a higher division they are ineligible to play in a lower division team for the remainder of the season, including finals.
e. For clubs with 2 teams in the same division, once a player has played 5 or more home and away games with a team, they are ineligible to again play for the club’s other team in that same division for the remainder of the season, including finals.
f. The hierarchical order is Senior, Reserves, Under 19s, Juniors age year group, competitive junior grades blue, red, green and silver.
g. Refer to finals eligibility for clarification of movement between age groups/grades and teams for finals participation.
Rationale:
Provides clarity on finals eligibility requirements and in addition specifics on any junior playing up a division and/or in seniors also on how many times they can do so, before not being allowed to then play back down in juniors. Safeguards the integrity of junior home and away games and finals series.

Yep they are the new rules - Are they the rules in all competitions or just the NFNL??

So kids can no longer help out teams in older age groups who are short on numbers on more than 4 occassions during the season or they cant play again in their own age group

Clubs have been blindsided by this set of rules and more games will be forfeited in the second half of the season

How does this rule "Safeguard the integrity of junior home and away games and final series" - How is younger kids playing games in a higher age group so threatening??

Wrong they can only play 4 games in a higher Division now or they cant go back to their age group
Applies to under 17's playing under 19's also

Pretty sure just the NFNL that’s what they released. It’s going to prevent clubs from fielding either 17’s or 19’s in the later half of the season for sure. Yet another issue for clubs again, the best thing to do would be abolish that rule.
