Sure the game was bad but the loss of Nicho for what could be a year is potentialy much worse. Nicho hurt his knee at the 15 minute mark of the last quarter.

He will have scans on Monday, but club medical staff believe he has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and will require a knee reconstruction.

The full story

With that occuring Chris Lamb will play next week, mark my words. He was again in the best for Sandy, beating Scott Cummings and must be given his chance. No matter what you may think of Lamb's ability, he is now needed in the side.

not good news will be hard job to get a "suitable" replacement for him.yes i agree about lamb, he has been around for a while but has been killing the opposition forwards in the vfl and also cummings yesterday so he has been up there.

I don't think you can take the VFL as any real indicator of a what a player's worth or ability will be when they're promoted. Just look at Russell Robertson. (Speaking of, where is DEES RULE? I miss her.)

Had some absolute mongrel bastard pie supporters behind us today, cheering when Nicho did his knee. Now I don't care where you're from, that's not right.

It's amazing how one day could turn a season. The same thing happened last season when we played them but this time we lost our #1 defender and probably the player we could least afford to lose in the process.

If he's done the ACL and he's out for the year I think we can just about kiss our hopes goodbye. I was REALLY optimistic about this season. Essendon isnt travelling too well, Brisbane has proved to be beatable and we've already taken care of Port Adelaide and Hawthorn. The comp is wide open and I think this couldve been our chance to push for the top 4 and maybe better. But, without Nicholson I dont think we can do it. Like Ingerson in 2000, Nicholson IS our backline. He's already taken out all the top forwards and without him our backline is a HUGE weakness. Either Ellis or Lamb will have to stand up or Neitz might have to move back which I dont really like. Broadbridge proved today and against Fremantle that he's dodgy at best when minding a player and Wheatley is more of a running half back/half forward. Like last season, we now have a major weakness that teams will expose and things arent looking good.

Unfortunately I agree with what you have said, unless Lamb/Broady/Ellis somehow improve out of sight it could be a long season.

oh no......

oh man thats a total bummer. anmd he is one of, if not our best defender. not good, but as Ox said last night, now its time for someone else to stand up and show their worth. Lets just hope they do. :(

It is a crying shame. I was devastated to see him go down like that, and it's a huge blow.

Like Madboy mentioned, there were Magpie supporters behind us cheering him when he did it. It took alot of effort on myself and Bt's behalf to sit where we were and not do anything. It was totally off what they did. Could only be from a Magpie supporter.

Lamb should get a run now. We might as well play him....if he sux, send him back and get rid of him, if he comes on, then good luck to him.

DeesChick, I want Armstrong traded!

He was a smart ass to me. I think I put it in a different post somewhere about the after match...

And Dee, this is my weekly vendetta, although unless he does something good, he is now my number 1 ENEMY!!! :D

Thankyou Nicki. I felt like an idiot half the time. I don't get to see the players often, so I was shaking as many hands as I could.

I was impressed with how Molan, Rogers, JAY-MAR and Miller conducted themselves. Molan has a broken leg and seemed really dejected, so I had a good chat to him. Miller was really nice, JAY-MAR was also and Rogers looked a little shy. All of them are 18-19.

Armstrong is already getting an attitude. Maybe he didn't like me cos I wasn't a 14 or 15 year old girl giggling all around him!

Miller was fantastic, i swear if u had kept at him he would have gone and told Neale to put him in the seniors. LOL but yeah i think Arma's early success has gone to his head, just a tad. perhaps u should have gone and told him he has a nice arse or asked him out or something. then he would have been nice to ya. :p lol

u tryna say something are you adam?

I am trying to say that he had all those 14-15 year old girls around him all night and was lapping it up, and because I wasn't one of them, he probably didn't like me. That's what I am saying.

LMAO! I remember doing that now!! :D :D He actually seemed quite keen on it too! I should have kept at it, he has won my respect has the young man! He was very easy to talk to, and was actually nice when answering my questions about his transistion from QLD to Melbourne. Top bloke! :)

And Armstrong can bugger off!

Nah we were talking to each other at the time, you're on your own mate :D .

As for Nicho he is irreplaceable. Lamb has niether the size or the strength to play full back at AFL level I reckon, he's certainly fallen short in the past. He should be included & given a real go (same goes for Miller) Good luck to him.
