The membership packs were a joke. Don’t bother at all next time.

But I guess you get what you pay for, over $650 a year for 7 home games .....

No shit eh?

I was extremely critical of the additional game and nothing I’ve seen since changes that opinion. For $100 per home game they should have a concierge on hand with warm hand towels and a cold glass for every arriving reserved seat member.

I get why they are getting rid of stuff in membership packs. It saves money.

I’d love a letter in the membership explaining.

“There is no lanyard this year, this has saved us xxxx, there is no fridge magnet fixture this has saved us xxxx and has given us more money to do this or that etc”

I’m paying almost $90 a game now for each membership. Almost worth considering Medallion Club instead.

I have no issues (obviously given my other thread) with getting rid of useless crap. Unfortunately I don't define home games with a reserved seat in that category and expect a bit more effort than thanks for the money and the club pushing advertising for trips to Tassie. Personally I think there are tonnes of great fundraising ideas that haven't been tried.

How about instead of just the car raffle each year they run a raffle that let's you win access to ALL home and away games including club room access. For a year you get to be treated like one of the team. You get to fly over for each game and enjoy a look in from the other side. If the winner is affable enough they could get them to write a blog about the experiences (with some oversight / ghostwriting) and use it as a great PR exercise as well. I'd be buying a bucketload of tickets to that. Here's an idea - how about make the entry to this part of the (now overpriced) cost for the premium level Adult memberships? I keep harping on these things in different threads but it feels like the clubs outsourced their fundraising years ago and there has been very little innovation or creativity since. They have so many "intangible" experiences that they can reward supporters with - while also engaging more and more - and instead every second raffle is a signed jumper or whatever.

How about as a trade off for the Tassie games they draw full return trips via the Spirit of Tasmania including a reserved seat / box for each of the 4 of the Tasmanian games. Give 40 people the chance to have a fully funded trip including accommodation to these games. Give back some of the largesse but by playing a long game that actually encourages higher tier memberships and engagement with the club.

Okay, arrived.

Where's the fixture? Surely it's not the cardboard interior of the envelope?
Haha yes, hope you didn't throw it out with the tiny, crucial magnet that was my only clue. On the plus side, it it is big enough to be readable once magentised and adhered to the fidge.

The AFL membership is looking a goer for next year.
It costs a lot and you always know most of your money is going to fund Gil's stupid ideas, so be careful what you wish for.

The latter (ie. money going to AFL) is the reason I've never got one. I couldn't stomach the thought.

Just reading this, makes me think how enormous the cost really is. Year on year you sort of get used to it - I pay around a $1000 for a family membership with 3 kids and reserve North Bay reserve seats, although my ex wife's ticket is regularly used to bring various mates with me, and at around $100 a month I am wondering am I being absolutely wasteful???

You can get medallion club H&A seats for $109-$125 on ticketmaster but you probably can't guarantee getting the same seats unless you book them all in advance, the cost would skyrocket for finals and you wouldn't get grand final seats should we make it. A medallion club membership is insanely expensive, they do hock off the seats though so you wouldn't have any issue finding seats for most games.

I think the club has a major issue with the way they communicate the packages and what you get. I think they should break it down, the Schimma Platinum is $620 for 11 home games or 710 for all home and away games in Melbourne so they are charging $18 per game for each away game but how much of the core package covers each of the membership inclusions? They should have converted the reserved seat tickets into away game ticket for the games they sell to Tasmania.

I think as a smaller club we need to pay extra to keep the club going, Geelong members pay considerably more than we do. However, I think that should be articulated fairly clearly and people left to make that choice. If you only get 7 reserved seating games, you should only pay for reserved seating games. They have kept charging more and more as the number of home games have declined. A lot of people are going to feel stiffed.

It went straight in the bin, so it completely circumvented it's purpose AND its politics.

Since the 2018 season finished up,
-memberships rolled over in October before any official fixture was released, locking in members for another year who may or may not have wished to opt out
-we had the redevelopment drive where we scrounged up $1.3 mil for the new block for the VFL-AFLW teams
-the Keep North South documentary was released showing an in depth personalized look into our 2007 fight to remain in Melbourne
-the club remarkably that weekend flirted with selling a 4th game to Hobart via a fluff piece with Nick Bowen who is well like around here, which raised a few eyebrows
-Carl Dilena announces a 4th game in Hobart without consulting members - much to our displeasure as pricing increased for the upcoming season with one less home game in Melbourne
-Carl jumps on bigfooty on Heaths account expecting Kumbayas and Friendship bracelets. In what could be described as one of the more poorly timed decisions and announcements in recent memory with emotions running high - it was a dismal failure as relocation concerns ran rife in thoughts of members
-Arch is wheeled out the following morning to justify the decision much akin to Demetriou asking Arch to be the face of the Gold Coast push
-Heath abruptly ends the clubs association with Bigfooty - terminating the link between website and club that has been around since the early 2000s, following the continued outpour of emotion and backlash to the decision directed at the club hierarchy
-Club misses out on Andrew Gaff following reports he reneged on a verbal confirmation he would join the club with senior North officials
-Majak Daw suffers a fall on the eve of the new year after an incident on the Bolte Bridge
-Christmas came and went without any memberships being mailed nor any reasoning as to why with no communication to members relating to the delay
-Archer resigns from the board and escapes conviction for an unrelated footballing issue
-memberships begin flowing through in late February with mediocre packs and still in early March many members awaiting their packs
-No indication the club is planning to celebrate its 150th year of existence in the upcoming season

Amid all these factors, not all is lost and we are all optimistic about what could or may happen on field. Because thats what counts afterall.
But **** me, if ever our administration wanted to self evaluate how its perceived by the members - I would describe it as nothing short of uninspiring.

Another POTY candidate.

You might also mention the increasing cost, perceived diminishing value, of membership.

Most here bleed blue and white, but the club isn't making it easy right now.

Another POTY candidate.

Absolutely.

The members need to fire a shot over the bow next time there's a board election.....................provided it isn't hidden in the fine print of the general notice section and gets overlooked again.

IMO, WANM would have definitely won a seat if one of them ran.

Yes. The odds would be stacked against us, but at least we might get the powers pay more attention to the mug members who've kept the club's heart beating for the last 150 years.

I think as a smaller club we need to pay extra to keep the club going, Geelong members pay considerably more than we do.

Do they really though? I mean, leave aside the stadium difference a quick look on their page has a 9 game reserved seat membership at their home ground for $695... that looks to compare pretty reasonably to 7 home games for $650 to me. Your point overall remains valid though, we need to be better than the others and I've been harping on it a bit. There's a staleness to a lot of the AFL clubs at the moment IMHO.

You have a point there, but i think the main difference is that the vast majority of our members would be general admission, about 1/8th of their stadium is general admission, the vast majority of their members are various forms of reserved seating members.

For 2017, Geelong had $16,039,108 from membership, reserved seating and gate receipts. We had $6,593,189 from membership/reserved seat sales and $1,722,528 from gate takings. Total Revenue without gaming/social profits was $47,266,694 for Geelong and ours was $39,717,822, so they made $7,548,872 more non-gaming revenue than we did and had $7,723,391 more from membership/gate revenue than us and we have similar membership base size so ultimately they are just chipping in more on average than we do. That probably has more to do with demand being greater than supply than them being generous, but we are at a distinct disadvantage being a smaller club playing at a fairly large stadium.
