Except the reason you bring up Gibbs and Murphy (and that others bring up the likes of Jack Watts and Dyson Heppell) is not because of a percieved physical weakness, it is a mental one. They are seen as softer players, ones who are scared of being hurt in the contest, and are therefore deemed to be like women.
Seeing as I've never seen any evidence that shows Women are more mentally weak than men (as opposed to physically), when I see remarks that appear to draw that conclusion, its pretty easy to discern some mildly sexist undertones
It is definitely not mental weakness, there are numerous early round picks that never made the grade, who went in for the hard ball like their life depended on it, these type of players are never mocked, even when their career is cut very short by comparison.
I think if most people are honest with themselves, they know full well my intent was to have a light-hearted jab at Gibbs & Murphy given Carlton was mentioned in the article and it wasn't an attempt to demean women of women's football. If we are not to make jokes or comments about anything that anyone might possibly misinterpret or possibly become offended by then public forums would be devoid of any comment.
