Carlton obviously need a key forward...I would like to build our forward line around Jarryd Roughead. No he doesn't have Buddy's skill set, but he would bring superior leadership.

I think that Scott Pendlebury is the first player I would pick for NMFC if I had my choice in a "draft" tomorrow. Combination of leadership, toughness, skills, workrate, disposal etc means he gets my no 1.

Ablett Jnr second, Franklin third. Many others not far away. I think with just one superstar included in a team it can improve dramatically.

Agree, Pendelbury is the complete package. I'd go with Ablett of the Geelong vintage, rather than the GC Ablett (he was so damaging up forward and in the midfield at Geelong).

Next choice would be Dangerfield for similar reasons as Pendlebury, or Fyfe (with fixed shoulders) as we a missing a player of his type

Pretty happy with our young defenders (Rance & Grimes) and forwards (Jack Riewoldt, Vickery/Griffiths) so would prefer to improve the midfield.

Who needs to imagine, how about Swan, Pendlebury, Thomas, Sidebottom, Beams, Wellingham, Blair, Shaw and when he comes back Luke Ball.

As for the topic, for us it would be NicNat by the length of the Flemington straight. Nicnat plus that midfield = lots of flags.

The most criminally underrated player in the competition.

For the swans I'd have to say Franklin due to our dodgy forward line, but I'd love a Scarlette just incase Richards ever gets injured.

Mark my words, if Ted Richards ever gets injured, the Swans fall apart.

Intelligent post. Roughead is integral to our team structure. He's just so good all around the ground for someone who's built like a brick shithouse.

However, I'd still probably take Buddy ahead of him. He may miss a few, but I'd say he's a darn sight better than most, if not all, forwards in the comp. I think the excitement factor comes into it as well. His ability to lift the crowd and his own team would be up there with the best.

Outside of him, would have to be Cotchin for mine. Pendlebury is fantastic, but I think Cotchin may outrun him before the end of his career. He's also faster (taking a guess on this one?) Which is just what we need in the midfield department. Just opinion.
