Any word on who did make the squad?

Hopefully it was someone like Ibbo/Mayne that took his spot rather than M.Carr/Macca/MaJohnson getting a run ahead of him.

The Dockers fly to Melbourne this afternoon fresh and ready to take on Collingwood at the MCG on Saturday.
After posting an impressive victory over local rivals West Coast in the NAB Cup, Fremantle looked sloppy at times during the pre-season, prompting a lighter week on the track in the lead-up to the round one clash.

Young midfielder Rhys Palmer and ex-Essendon premiership player Mark Johnson look likely to play their first games in Fremantle colours after travelling with the squad of 24.
Palmer impressed coaches during the pre-season, including assistant coach Dean Wallis.
“He’s actually put in a massive pre-season and he’s a quality kid,” Wallis said.
“He’ll add strength to our midfield, he’s got a huge motor and he’s a ball-winning magnet.
“(He) kicks goals, that’s what we want.

yeah exactly, and by "Independant Observer" you mean that you are a gutless wonder who prefers to sit on the fence and throw mud instead of picking a team.

Palmer must be travelling with the team if he's be chosen as an emergency.. I think he would play..

According to 6pr, Rhys will be playing for East Freo.

Those doofuses at 6PR wouldn't know if theur butts were on fire. He's in Melbourne, but he's playing for EF on the weekend.

its a joke if Palmer doesn't play.

He does better than some of our other mids during the preseason yet doesn't get the chance to show his stuff.

Can we just calm down a bit. OK, so Palmer might not play this week. He might not play next week either, but I'm sure we didn't draft him solely to play the first couple of rounds of the 2008 season. He'll be at the club for many many years, there's no need to rush him into the team - have some faith in Harvs, the rest of the coaching staff and selection committee. :thumbsu:

FWIW, I was hoping he'd play too - I want to see the youngsters in the team, and he's also in my DT. But, as a tool once wrote on his abdomen, c'est la vie

Clever move by Harvey I reckon if it's true!!

I think you will see Palmer play an intermittent role for quite a few weeks as he is "broken in" to the real AFL, not just pre-season.

Most of the opposition would have worked out that this kid represents a threat so my guessing is Harv's has worked this out and playing it safe.

Expect him to be played sporatically for the first half of the season, then more regularly as the season progresses.

Rational thinking there, I'd love to see Palmer but don't believe everything you read or hear.

The truth is that the Gummies have begged to have Palmer so they can at least get a couple of wins this year ......
