They were saying on tv last night that they thought Prismall, someone else and Gamble would most likely miss when Ablett, Wodjinksi (sp?) and Chapman come back.

Now ill be honest i haven't caught every one of Geelong's games but against the Tiges and the doggies i think it was, Gamble was great. He and Lonergan play the run up, small forward role perfectly. Surely there would be room for him? He has a certain X factor that adds another dimension to your forward line..as scary as that is.

But i guess the problem is who misses? Your club have an awfully good list where these types would be in most club's best 22.

Good thread...i would love to see vegas remain in the side..but i reckon it will come down to a decision between him and taylor in the end....this will be a very call, i think it will come down to the opposition we play and who we need most.

Lonergan could be in trouble, especially if he continues to fail to perform against the better teams. Gamble could play tall or small, and Ottens can 'rest' at FF also.

Bomber started Ottens at full forward last night. I suspect he's a little worried about having a big bodied key forward in the goal square come final times and no disrespect to Lonergan, he's been a little up and down. I hope Ottens does improve because he was pretty ordinary when he was at FF and had a clear height advantage over his opponent. Delivery didn't help though.

will somebody please drop varcoe? 7 possies and 4 tackles... another ordinary performance...

Varcoe is a fantastic player. Doesn't get it enough as Prismall, but he is more vital to the team then him.

His defensive pressure is amazing, and something that doesn't show up on the stats.

Gamble is a must, his attack at the ball and his youth and enthusiasm is great for our forward line. I'd drop Varcoe ahead of Gamble, even though i dont think Varcoes small stats are a reason for him to be dropped because his defensive pressure he puts on in the forward line is terrific, but if one of those two has to go then it should be Varcoe. This then creates further pressure on Gamble to play at his best knowing Varcoe is in the 2's breathing down his neck for his spot, which is a win for us.

Its a great problem for us to have, i just dont think Gamble has put a foot wrong and should be rewarded by keeping his spot for the rest of the year

Gamble must stay in, can take Lonergans spot. Lonergan in my opinion, is similar to Byrnes in that he is a good player, but not quite up to it at AFL. gambles got something about him, not sure what it is but hes a talent. Good mark, good kick at goal and he has been playing quite unselfishly the last few weeks.

Love his work.

On Gamble, he is a dead set Brett Burton Clone. Love him. Will be a 200+ gamer for us.

It will interesting to see how Ottens is played over the next few weeks. If he is played a lot in the forward line like Friday night, then it might point to Lonergan (and Hawkins) missing out.

I think thats a little harsh to call yet with Lonners whats he played no more then 15 games.

I would have agreed for the past 5 weeks, but last night he looked a bit tired. Ala the end of last year. Give him another week just to see if he was off. But his pressure was not solid last night

varcoe for chapman, and prismall for ablett. Let wojak earn his spot.

Yeah I would go with that also. Wojac to come in if the match up is required, otherwise he can come back the hard way or will have to wait for an injury down back.

It's all just discussion and only discussion, considering any team is unlikely to have their best 22 available every week.

So the "no room for Gamble" comment is only valid if everyone is available for selection.

It can only be taken one week at a time, because different players are available and different players are unavailable each and every week.

So for next week i'd guess Ablett will be back, for Prismall imo, so thus still room for Gamble.

Chapman in Lonergan out
Varcoe rest Prismal stay for experience Gablett in
Woj to earn spot
Gamble to stay
DJ, SB, KT to trade to allow youth in, development.
How will DJ ever make an appearance with MEgan back?
Lonergan is rightly untouchable re trading, unless his choice when Nablett and Hawkins are regulars. He may become a defensive covering player - ahead of DJ.
