Jeez, Channel 10 going a bit overboard with the Chris Gayle interview.

I thought it was a pisser. Some very delicate people out there.Jeez, Channel 10 going a bit overboard with the Chris Gayle interview.
There's that but it was pretty harmless. If I'm Gayle I'll give her a call and apologise if she's taken offence to it and leave it at that.I laughed at first but then you see how it affected Mel Mc.
Not something she needed on the job.

There were no complaints when Hamish McLaughlin was swooning over Hugh Jackman.I still stick that on national TV, to a woman just doing her job, it was poor form.
In a bar or a nightclub, play on.
This. Looking back, she immediately avoided eye contact. Cost himself MOTM as well, was clearly the guy but Ch10 not going to put him back on screen.I laughed at first but then you see how it affected Mel Mc.

I think the main difference was the guy Maria was eyeing off seemed to enjoy it, Mel clearly didn't. That's a big enough deal to seperate the two imo. I have no issue with Chris saying what he did off air, it's the fact he said it on air and put her on the spot that i have issue with. There's an interview of Maria Sharapova saying to a reporter that she was distracted by his good form. I don't mind that at all. Basically not what I've learnt, but had reaffirmed is that a woman can be flirty, a male cannot. Equality, hey?
Actually thought Finch deserved it.This. Looking back, she immediately avoided eye contact. Cost himself MOTM as well, was clearly the guy but Ch10 not going to put him back on screen.
Mel is a professional, that was her place of work.
If Gayle wants to hit on her and be mercilessly shut down when she's not at work, he can do so.
Doing so on national television was completely unfair. She handled it extremely well, but it was immediately obvious that she felt humiliated.
Men objectify women in the workplace constantly, and it both humiliates them and limits their opportunities - don't throw out the equality card or tell them how to feel when we're not on a level playing field in the first place.
So if Mel likes it, no-one has a drama. If the guy Sharapova talked to had a problem, everyone would be telling him to toughen up a bit.I think the main difference was the guy Maria was eyeing off seemed to enjoy it, Mel clearly didn't. What'd he say in the Carribean League? So if Mel likes it, no-one has a drama. If the guy Sharapova talked to had a problem, everyone would be telling him to toughen up a bit.
There's a video doing the rounds tonight of Gayle being interviewed by a female reporter when playing the Thunder. He did the same thing to her, she just took it in her stride and no-one bats an eyelid. Because Mel looked awkward (I would too, Gayle was so corny) everyone blasts Gayle?
This is exactly like the Afl tribunal and sling tackles. Someone gets hurt and people get punished. No-one gets hurt and its play on.
Just me but I don't see what doing this whilst she's working or not working has to do with it other than Gayle looking like a legend/dil in front of more people. No-one has any issue with how Mel handled things. People will say she doesn't need that sort of thing at work, she probably doesn't need it outside of work either but it happens. If she likes him she'll chat, if she doesn't, she'll decline. She's no baby. She's a strong woman who doesn't need mollycoddling.
Just my take on it. I know I'll be the minority in this and most will take solace in that. I just think the world has gotten way too politically correct.
I will say that what Gayle said in the Carribean League, that was wrong, and really poor form. That's where I draw the line.
What'd he say in the Carribean League?
when he was asked how he felt about the pitch, he said something along the lines of "well I haven't felt yours yet!"
Of course it's going to be a case by case basis. If the victim is offended, then it's wrong; if she says play on, then it's play on. Weird analogy i know, and apologies in advance but it's like sex, if it's consensual, then all good, if it isn't, its rape. It's all about how it is percieved from the reciever. So if Mel likes it, no-one has a drama. If the guy Sharapova talked to had a problem, everyone would be telling him to toughen up a bit.
