How gutted would you be if you supported the Atlanta Falcons right now? Up 25 late in the 3rd. That's like giving up a 10 goal lead in a Grand Final.

Ultimate choke, losing the chance of a field goal that would have sealed it & then giving up an all-time catch in a 3 on 1, can't get much worse!

And how good do you feel if your a Pats fan???
Answer: I feel very bloody good

So who lives on Wyndham and voted labour ??

Must be pretty happy with this youth detention centre they are building that is actually in Point Cook not Werribee South.

I honestly cannot think of a single politician this country has that isn't a thief or liar and this Tim Pallas just proves anyone involved with the political side of unions are the biggest thieves and liars.

I wonder how much he pocketed out of this decision ??

Politics is depressing as shit at the moment.

Cory Bernardi? It's an indictment on the Libs and how far they've shifted to the right that nutcases like him are elected into parliament. Not sure if he can do what Trump has done in the US as he clearly wants tom but I was one of many that gave Trump no chance of winning. Look how that turned out.

Turnbull? Serious, what is the point to him? What's he achieved? I was delighted when Abbott got given the arse because I ****ing hate Abbott and get joy from seeing him suffer, and I don't have a problem with Turnbull personally as such, but what's the actual point of him when idiotic extremists like Abetz, Bernardi, Abbott, Andrews etc are still running the show?

Trump is so, so unbelievably dangerous. It genuinely depresses the hell out of me seeing him whenever I watch the news. He is despicable, corrupt, narcissistic, incompetent, a fascist, an extremist and just outright dangerous...and the leader of the free world. Genuinely scary.

Well said. Almost like you've read my mind.

It's not just the Right. Kevin Rudd was quite possibly our most contemptible PM ever.

Trump trying to undermine the standing of the judiciary is what scares me the most of anything he's done in the past few weeks. If he can successfully marginalise the Courts, it will give him an opening to conducting his presidency like a dictatorship.
It seems we already have a self-marginalizing legislative branch, so Trump doesn't even have to work at marginalizing them. I still have eight US national parks on my bucket list. I just hope I can get to them before Trump sells them off to the lumber and fossil fuel folks.

Slightly disagree.

Much though I hate Rudd (what a smarmy, populist, sniveling arseh*le) I didn't think he was dangerous as such.

He did some good things early on - the apology to the stolen generations, and handled the GFC well. After that he basically lost the plot, and was always going to be in trouble given most of the ALP (rightly) hated him.

I thought Gillard wasn't as bad as everyone said. She got some things wrong, but was always in a tight spot due to the parliament she was elected in, and Abbott's despicable antics.* But still very disappointing.

Abbott was absolutely and utterly horrendous. I knew he would be - he has always been an idiot, an extremist and a fascist, but knowing he'd be horrendous didn't make his actual tenure any better. If I was grading him like a school teacher, I'd give him an F- and would feel generous in doing so.

Every Prime Minister in my lifetime has done at least something good or has something they can call a legacy - except Abbott. I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

*I'm also strongly against anyone who says Abbott was a good Opposition Leader. He wasn't. He was a disgrace.

His stint as OL was akin to a whining child screaming and demanding to be taken to the toy store, putting his fingers in his ears, stamping his feet against the ground and refusing to move until he hears what he wants. Instead of being told to grow up, he's given what he wants and told by idiots that he's an effective negotiator.

Abbott seemed to want to enforce his religious values on the community. Which I find distasteful. But at least he stood for something, however out of touch he was. And luckily he was largely stymied.

Rudd IMO had little in the way of values and it's appropriate that Rudd apologising is his legacy. If we were ever invaded - Rudd would be the first guy wanting to wave the white flag. A bigger spineless, amorphous, contemptible, jellyfish of a human I've seen hold the PM role. Say what you want about our other PMs but Rudd is the only coward among them (IMO).

I completely agree with you that Rudd is spineless and a turd.

I still voted for him in 2013 (shudder) but strictly as an "Anyone But Abbott" vote.

Something else I always hated about Abbott is how him and the Libs always make a big song and dance about what great economic managers they are - yet Abbott, along with that bumbling idiot Hockey, are without question the worst and most incompetent economic managers this country has ever had.

The ALP cop a fair bit for their economic record, a lot of it justified - I'd still take any one of them every day of the week and twice on Sunday before even considering Tones and Uncle Joe running the finances again.

Keating. Unloved at the time but a true visionary.
Howard and Costello introduced numerous tax loop holes and reduced our tax revenue so much that we would always be in deficit. Howard's legacy is now bankrupting Australia.
Rudd just talked a lot.
Gillard got bullied out of office.
Abbot was the bully and has nothing else.
Turncoat stands for nothing except staying in power.

It's a sorry lot. We still have to vote for either of two incompetent and corrupt parties.

I don't know a lot about politics. I know I should, but I've never felt the drive to bother learning about it because I've never seen a vaguely likeable politician in my lifetime. Obama had issues but at least he was ****ing likeable.

(Also, probably best to move this to the Non-AFL thread).

Nailed it.

Trump is just the 'equal and opposite' reaction the other way to the politically correct, affirmative action, gender fluid, militant green view of the world that people are also sick of. Absolute ratbags at each end of the political spectrum with loud vile opinions. Busy bodies who just want to tell us how we should think, feel, speak and live. Look at the two sides whenever there is some sort of protest these days. Round 'em all up send 'me away and let us sensible cool heads live life.

Sadly he isn't the one who scares me the most at the moment, which shows us the state of the world at the moment is anything but good...

Honestly scared of both fascists and the facists who call themselves anti-fascists.

What's the problem with building a youth detention centre there? (This is a sincere question---I have been out of the country for a while so I'm a bit behind when it comes to some current issues.)
