There’s some amusing speculation on the scandals and rumours board regarding fractures in the playing group: someone’s phone being synched to his iPad led to the end of season trip being live-streamed to the WAGs.

Nicks another with an unnecessary contract extension
What did they have to lose by waiting until the bye
There’s an amazing thread about it on the Adelaide board re things that now look better than the Hicks extension.

He’s in year five now and they’re on track to miss the eight again. No need to extend him right at the start of the year.

Insane decision. They’ve got some good players but I don’t see why some people rate this as a finals list, or that he’s some great coach.

What are they good at? Defense is a bit blah, mids are workmanlike, forward line looks good in theory but relies on Tex staying competitive and Fogarty stepping up - neither of which looks likely on the basis of the first month.

Adelaide is a strange footy town atm. Hinkley is probably three years beyond his sell by date, unless they somehow make a GF this year, and it feels like the crows are about to have the same run with Nicks. Weird.

few years on…
A funny thing about that was Dunks was convinced that a bunch of players that were so unprofessional would eventually lead to the team downfall ... made the grand final in 2021.

Last year, the same bunch of blokes who did this in Vegas... made the grand final immediately before hand.

If the footy world worked the way that Josh Dunkley saw it, North Melbourne would have made a few finals series over the last few years, you would have thought?

Their key position stocks are real bad. Xerri is a competent ruckman, and Larkey is quality bit outside of that, woof.
Aiden Corr is on good coin in a big, we-got-him-from GWS multi-year deal and has been a worse and worse player ever year through the course of the contract. Nobody in the footy media cares about the nuances of specific player form in a small team playing poorly, so nobody really gets that players like Corr's poor form are a big reason why they remain stuck at the bottom of the ladder. A fox footy show on Monday or Tuesday isn't going to do a big segment on one of their shows showing Corr's deficiencies or whatever so a lot of the wider neutral footy world just have no idea what's going on with that team.
