The AFL media in the last 5 years has become infested with smarmy little turds that are all vying for airtime and “the scoop”. And they have shown they are more than willing to jump in the gutter and muck rake and talk shit if it increases their profile.

We, as supporters not working in the clubs, probably only know about, and only see, the very tip of the iceberg when it comes to this and what the clubs have to deal with when it comes to the media.

The AFL came out a few years ago and said AFL accredited journos would be held responsible and have their accreditation stripped from them if they make shit up, muck rake and are disengenuos… Yet they dont back this up and Caro is a prime example.. she has been directed by the ****in courts ffs and forced to apologise for her camp reporting.. yet the disgusting and vile creature still cant pull her head in over it and the AFL wont do anything about it.

This whole issue, that has now resulted in that enbarrassing episode last night, is on Gillion and the AFL for allowing these clowns, that would barely pass for a journo’s arseh*le, to get away with what they have the last few years.. they have turned AFL journalism into cheap tabloid gossip mongering garbage.

But he was right? Don't get this view at all. Sure the media sucks, but why go after a jurno when they actually get it right?

Also I'd say bevo using Hunter as a pawn, flicking him in and out of the team, purely out of personal spite for a jurno is more likely to harm his wellbeing than anything Morris said.

Bevo has always acted like a drunken sailor at team selection. They've been a pretty underwhelming team between their flag and last year, and there's a good chance they flame out now.

While you are right, this Morris/Hunter story is not the hill to die on. Can you imagine his reaction if the camp story involved the Bulldogs? If Lever, McGovern exits were away from the Dogs. Bulldogs were beneficiaries of the media getting the scoop on Treloar and Collingwood's breakdown.

Media is shit scared of Bulldogs in general because of Peter Gordon, and by virtue of being Victorian but small enough to be everyone's second team when playing a non-Vic side.

The thing I don't get is why this has caused "great turmoil in the club". Bevo is clearly upset about this, but why such a big deal about early leaking of teams? Are any oppo really going to be so advantaged?

He never said Morris was wrong and admitted they needed to look internally.

He was focussing on the fact Morris is a known Melbourne supporter and then listed several other journos who have directly approached him in the past to discuss similar things before running it.

It's the second time in two games in a row (the GF and this one) Morris has tried to destabilize the Dogs who were playing his beloved Melbourne. It's the typical biased crap that needs to stop in AFL media.
