They've been in this position for years now.
But Dangerfield, Hakwins and Selwoods' still playing
So their supporters are happy
Scott's happy,
Their recruiters happy because he never needs to select anyone
They're just a happy club making finals down at Geelong

They’ve made decisions to maximise the twilight years of Danger/Selwood/Hawkins etc

That hasn’t worked

The bill is coming due

Brilliantly said - The Primus exit was also another exhibit in white-anting savagery.

I love how this is their mainboard :$ :$ :$ :$

Remember they were proud of not turning up to games. It was how they sent the club a message. I reckon Rucci even referred to it in an article as one of the Port fans' redeeming features.

I must thank you FullyBigKPro for providing those wonderful quotes from Ken in the presser yesterday [emoji23]

Now I must confess… in a past life I did spend a bit of time lurking around on their board, circa 2009-2010 when the Williams regime came tumbling down and the start of the abandonment of their club (going to games etc.). What can I say, I felt sorry for them (that won’t be a mistake ever repeated I can guarantee).

What was interesting is how much they had turned on/hated Williams. This being their only premiership coach who had their club as one of the best in the league for a number of years. The vitriol and savagery was an eye opener.

They were so happy to get an outsider Ken in. And now here we are. Back to wanting “true Port” people at the club.
Why on earth would anyone in their right mind want to go there when they see how the supporters behave. The next coach will come in (whoever it is) and be savaged after a while. And so the cycle will continue.

They don’t know what they want. To be “true Port” or “half Port” or leave “port” in the SANFL and forge their own path in the AFL. What a sad, confused lot. Tragic really…

[emoji23]
The irony of them wanting Clarkson.

When he left Port he took a lot of good people with him.

Could argue he started the demise of that club, which started it's AFL existence quite well under John Cahill and Brian Cunningham as CEO.

They seem to hate Choco, who has helped in the Richmond and now Melbourne dynastys and is very much a "Port Adelaide " person. Yet would sell the farm for Clarko who used their club as a stepping stone and gutted it on his way to success at Hawthorn.

I love Danger as a player but I can't agree with you about Cameron vs Dangerfield being equal as forwards.

I know who I'd choose in our forward 50.
+1

Good post.

Cameron is daylight ahead of Danger as a forward. Always has and always will be.

It sure is.
And their supporters lap up that those three are still playing.
What has been strange with their trading is not getting younger players around them
Instead they recruit guys like Isaac Smith

I just think it’s funny, Hinkley has been trying for 10 years for no result, Scott won one by taking over a premiership team but has spent the next 9 years not winning one..

Meanwhile Melbourne have been the epitome of a sh** team for years, and Goodwin is no one’s idea of an obvious next big thing as a coach - all of a sudden they’re playing an amazing brand of football and seem to have no weak links, win a flag and are unbackable favourites for another one

Hinkley Scott etc must get together over a Coke Zero and say “Simon Goodwin?? SIMON FECKIN GOODWIN??!!” 😄😄
Love it 😂
Goodie is doing well but I think Paul Roos must be a massive part of the current Melbourne success.

Agree about Scott inheriting a good side. That point is not lost on the cat fans here in Gtown. He'll probably go down in history as failing to provide several premierships when he often had the cattle to do so.

If the arms out is automatically 50 we are going to see even more diving/playing for frees.

Every forward needs to be aware if they can get under their defenders skin they are going to get cheap as goals

I know a lot of people here hate Mark Williams, but don't underestimate the influence he has had with the Richmond and Melbourne dynasties.

Defenders need a subtle expression of their discontent which is not directed to the umpire. Something like turning their back to the umpire or a verbal tirade to themselves but into their hands.

Anyone got any ideas. Could be fun.

Yep. Choco was utterly reviled by the end there and he is as Port as could be.

Oh I’m sure it was ok for Clarkson to do that 🙄 They seem to make up different “rules” for different people as they see fit.

Imagine a defender rolling their eyes and the umpire gives a 50m penalty.

It's totally ridiculous that they are trying to take all the emotion out of the game. It just cant be done.
The other odd part is it's only ever paid to someone standing the mark

You've clearly underestimated Dangerfield as a forward, he started there for us and I always thought he would be one of the best forward in the competition had he played in that position.
Please don't get me wrong. Danger is a handy forward but too good at other skills to have wasted his career as a forward. I don't want to give him a score out of ten as a forward but I feel that at best, he's the third "tall" in nearly all AFL teams.

By comparison, Jeremy Cameron would be the "gun" forward in most AFL teams.

Danger is difficult to contain if you also have Cameron and Hawkins in the same team, the third best defender cant go to him as he is very strong overhead and has explosive power.

“A proud protest by the Port faithful” he’s warming this up again at the moment. They’ll be sub 20k in a few weeks if not this week.

Gary Rowan is a bigger out for them than most understand. He is a genuine third tall and very fast. When they're all playing, Danger gets a lot of freedom as the fourth.

Dangerfield is much better than just a third tall forward, he has the ability to complete with the 2nd best tall defender in the air and can beat him when the ball hit the ground and is actually much better than Cameron in this area and quicker on the lead. He is very under used as the 3rd tall forward when resting up forward and get lost in the play with both Hawkins and Cameron being the main targets. He can't seem to pay much minutes in the midfield anymore so playing him as a permanent forward along side Hawkins will prolong his career for a few more years and also maximise him as the 2nd tall forward. Now he is in no man land just like Geelong's list.....
