You know somehow it'll be our fault.
"Ex-Adelaide Crows superstar Jake Lever has been revealed as a highly influential power broker in the Simon Goodwin bullying saga. Lever, who played alongside suspended racist Taylor Walker and under disgraced ex-Head of Football Brett Burton, was revealed to have suggested bullying as an effective tactic to head the team in the right direction. Sources allege that Lever's controversial suggestion is based on the principles established at the infamous Crows pre-season camp, which fractured the playing group and took a team from 1st to last in the space of 3 seasons. Goodwin himself played 275 games for Adelaide"

Almost perfect, just needs "that led to a mass exodus of players" in there somewhere.

Without reading any of this I'm just going to assume most of this is bullshit that has been blown up way out of proportion.
Seems that way.

"Melbourne ALMOST sacked Goodwin."

Yeah, but they didn't. And he won a flag.

"But he needed a chaperone in Vegas!"

So? That sounds like it was managed reasonably well.

"But he drank and gambled with players!"

Ok him being friendly with the players probably ruined their season... No? They won the flag?

What happens though if these accusations were raised mid 2021 ......do they derail MELB's season and cost a Premiership

On a serious note

How can the AFL accept wagering/bookies as one if its biggest sponsorship groups and involved in AFL media (to the point it is part of the game coverage), and then AFL sanctioned media get their teeth into Goodwin who enjoys a punt.

Because the AFL is completely ruled by the almighty $$ and they are a bunch of complete hypocrites.

Betting companies should be banned from advertising (anywhere - TV, internet, newspapers), and banned from sponsoring sporting teams or competitions. In other words, they should be treated exactly the same way that cigarette companies are now treated.

I'd like to see betting companies legally prevented from banning or limiting successful gamblers

Goodwin's behaviour has always been a bit questionable.

Back in the mid 2000s I was told a rumour that came directly from someone within the SA footy media that Goodwin had a younger girlfriend in Melbourne who he regularly caught up with when the Crows played over there.

I don't know too much more than that other apparently a lot of the players and officials knew and turned a blind eye to it.
