Four of their first five games are interesting, Lions away, Showdown, Melbourne at home and Blues away with the Hawks at home as a "lock".

History suggests its not inconceivable they could lose all four of these. They will come for Ken.

Playing Brisbane at the Gabba hasn't been a pleasant experience for Port over the last few years.

Since 119 Port have only won there twice (2016 and 2017)

I'd be marking Round 1 down as a loss and if the unthinkable happened and we beat them in Round 3, I think the wheels might start to fall off.

With Voss Carlton should know all the ins and outs surrounding Port's game plan, and with Carlton's improvement could actually be the game that ends Ken's career.
Yes... but are we sure that's a good thing? Hinkley is a reason for Port's continual Power Failures. If he's gone, they might replace him with a real coach. Nobody in their right mind wants to see a successful Port.

They go into the game without Dixon, Fanta and Lycett. Im sure there is a few others too.

Lions were ambushed in R1 last year vs Sydney, they wont make the mistake of taking this game lightly.

Of course we don't want them having someone competent but at some point they're gonna stop drowning in their own bath water and realise Ken ain't delivering shit.
We need to prepare for the end of Ken as much as they do

Their list is about to fall off a cliff and need a rebuild.

Boak turns 34 this seasong
Gray turns 34 this season
Dixon turns 32 this season
Jonas turns 31
Motlop turns 31 this season
Lycett turns 30 this season

I think high calibre coaches might be dissuaded by this.

Its not this that is the only problem.. their youth, when these older players dont fire, is absolutley useless…

Gutless shirkers of the contest who crumble at rhe first sign of any pressure.

The names you have mentioned are all massive downhill skiers.. great at beating up bottom 10 sides.. exposed as frauds against the top teams.

This has rubbed off onto their youth.

We can always hope that someone even less competent takes over. I'd be crossing my fingers that Leon Cameron somehow ends up with the job. But there are only so many AFL coaching jobs which open up each year, so it's fairly rare for assistant coaches to be overly choosy. Beggars can't be choosers.

If the sh*t did hit the fan who would be the interim coach of Port until season's end?
IMO they won't sack him until the end of the season. And it'll be "disappointing season, mutual agreement, new direction". There's too many egos involved for the club to sack him mid-season.
Is this the last year of Ken's contract?
No, he's contracted to the end of 2023. Signed a 2 year extension in early 2021.
Are they even allowed to sack him?
There seems to be a general assumption that they can't, because of the payout and being on the AFL teat. But I wonder if end of 2022, with only one year left, might get around that. Especially if the 6-month limit applies.

i’m not one to believe in the afterlife.. but if there is a Heaven.. I can just picture Deaneus up there having a beer just inside the pearly gates entrance waiting for Rod Marsh to arrive and enter…

Just so he can sledge him about game three of the finals of the 80-81 world series cup and its controversial final delivery!..

he’d probably have a big banner all ready to unfold and hold up as Rodney walks through…
Marshy was shaking his head though. He was disgusted too.

do you reacon Marsh didnt know what was about to happen?

I mean.. you would’ve though he would have been pre-warned, as the wicket keeper, as to what the next ball was going to come down the pitch like..

I reacon he knew… he probably disagreed with the plan and then, after it was enacted, showed his disgust.

still.. the Aussies won..

He knew, and was showing disgust before it was bowled.

I think he called out to Trevor to please don't do it, or something like that.
