I reckon Stengle was a chance to get delisted if he didn't screw up off field given we preferred to play Lachie Murphy over him
This.

He was struggling with us. Didnt demand a spot with SANFL form, People forget that.

Maybe he has since cleaned up his act and one year in SANFL, even on AFL money was an eye opener for him to get his shit together.

I supported it at the time but the decision to push Stengle out is not aging well. The fact we essentially replaced him with Rowe, who looks unlikely to have a long AFL career, also adds a bit of salt to the wound.
There's no guarantee Stengle will have a long AFL career either. Richmond traded him away cheaply and his SANFL form with us wasn't demanding much senior selection. A few in here are getting a bit too carried away after one good game against witches' hats.

Christ, could you imagine Dwayne calling Buddy's 1000th?

"Drown 'em in your honey Budds!"

"CRAZY GOOD!"

Or BT next week? Hopefully Jason Bennett is calling next week's Swans vs Cats game, his commentary for Docherty's goal was perfect. Just remained silent and let the roar of the crowd tell the story.

Look, I’m going to cop heat for posting this, but who gives a sh*t. Let’s go.

There are people, many people I could list, running around in the AFL industry who have done things eons worse than what Tom Morris did.

Want me to name one right off the bat? How about Marlion Pickett?

How do we arrive at a point where calling someone a lesbian in a group chat, is worse than being an ex-con?

Don’t come at me with all your bullshit platitudes about how Tom should’ve known better. Just address the point at hand.

Why have thoughtcrimes leapfrogged actual crimes in polite society?

It would be a massive HR issue for Fox. The woman he spoke about ( and other female colleagues ) are likely to be uncomfortable working with him now.
Even if you don’t think what he said was THAT bad, his position there was untenable.

Yes. We go softer on him because (potential) talent, he doesn't get the message, potential not realised. We go hard, he refuses the offer... reality bites. Maybe it sucks that Geelong are the beneficiaries (assuming he stays on the straight & narrow), but that's not a reason to assume we shouldn't have done what we did, in a genuine effort to straighten him out.

Nah, a full season suspension for a second strike that if detected under the AFL surveillance policy would yield 4 games was massive overkill. We stuffed up, and it's not surprising, optics have always been favoured over performance at our club. We lead the league in internal player punishment.

He will likely never acknowledge it, but us sacking him could potentially have saved his life.

He was likely going down a dark path if he stayed and continued with his lifestyle.

Yeh, racking up some lines with mates is life threatening. He'd be one of 75% of our list that rack lines, grow up.

Making Ben Keays look like Sam Mitchell

A team with a midfield that has Toranto, Kelly, Hopper and Tom Green shoukd be winning the flag

Hanging out with the type of people he did here would've led to nothing good
