I know someone who was asked to do some work as part of Hawthorn's RAP plan. They have earned with numerous clubs and none were as "blackwashing" as how the Hawks went about it.

You might concede Cyril has a point to feel agrieved given Jeff is the head of the fish and given the article outlines a lot more issues than a pair of jeans.

Maybe, but there was nothing in that Kennett incident.

If that’s the reason he won’t have anything to do with Hawthorn, he’s the one with the problem.

I’m assuming you’re a white male, as I am

It’s easy for us to look at the bare facts and say “nothing in it”. Because to us, there isn’t. If he’d said it to us, there’s probably no reason why we’d be offended.

But the content of what someone says is affected by the context. Saying those words to a white male is a different context to saying them to a black female, with historical instances in indigenous Australia of criticism of how black women (and men) dress, how they “look after themselves”, how much money they’ve got (eg to afford thread) etc

You and I probably aren’t tired of older white men telling us what to do and how to look. Younger black women may well be.

We need to see this not in just the one dimension of what was said but in three dimensions of what it meant to that person in that situation

Same content + different context = different consequences

If there was no racial stuff in it I agree, but sounds like a fair bit of stuff went on.

It certainly does.

And “no racial stuff” is not easy to identify. “Racial stuff” maybe wasn’t explicit but it can be implicit. Words have denotations (their primary meanings) and connotations (their secondary meanings in various contexts).

And I’m not saying you’ve done this here, but a general comment on situations like this - maybe us white guys should ask the aggrieved person “I don’t understand, why was that offensive to you?” rather than “I don’t understand how that was offensive, so it wasn’t.”

Good comment. I'd thought similar to froggy, but reading your post has opened my eyes to a way of thinking that didn't occur to me

Would be fitting if Ken breaks the longest serving coach to never play in a GF record with 0 wins up to that game.

Round 9 or 10?

This would be so funny if it did happens and then he got sacked immediately after this AFL industry breaking record which will be held by Port Power forever to go with the 119, so Hinkley would have actually left Port Power in the worst state then when he took over after Primus was sacked with a way worst list, $10M+ in debt and taken $8M+ salary from them in 10+ years.....just need them tarps to return.

Turn on the Gold Coast match and see Rory Atkins immediately caught holding the ball

Interesting how there is yet another Power failure and all the Port posters that casually post on here and claim they rock up here all the time, have completely disappeared.

It could be 3+ weeks till the neighbours arrive here.

This 100%. Pretty sure I mentioned something at the time
Yeah, a few of us did.

I was more annoyed about basically giving Keath away after we had developed him.

Preust finally playing a game too.

Talk about trading yourself into the wilderness for a few years.

I've just about had enough of you guys, time to cancel my bigfooty account.

Or you could just pay up on your bet & most would leave you alone...

‘Let’s get out of this s*** storm’: Cyril breaks silence on shock retirement in explosive Kennett claims

As an isolated incident, it's a lame dad joke, but you'd have to surely think other stuff was going on leading up to this that this was a straw that broke the camel's back kind of thing. Being Jeff, it wouldn't be a surprise.
